My Death of the family candidate

Many people have said that either damian or drake were most likely to die but in my opinion it's Barbara Gordon here...

Commissioner Gordon or Barbara. People have been asking where Stephanie Brown or Cassandra Cain are... right? I'm guessing either the Commissioner will die and Barbara wil blame Batman and hang up her cowl. Or Joker will finish what he started with Barbara.

#3 Posted by gotwillpower (679 posts) - - Show Bio

What about Alfred? He would be the easiest to kill off, I'm pretty sure something will happen to him.

#4 Edited by Reignmaker (2235 posts) - - Show Bio

It's been pointed out that Drake is the most expendable. But the superheroes are probably safe. DC loves how well its bat books are selling. More likely than not, it'll be Alfred or no one.

#5 Posted by bob808 (6785 posts) - - Show Bio

I think Alfred is the one most likely to die.

#6 Posted by akbogert (3227 posts) - - Show Bio

@consolemaster001: Considering the hot water DC went through when they tried to can Gail Simone, I don't think they'd try to pull any fast ones on Babs for quite a while. If the fans didn't kill them for taking out Barbara, Simone would.

#7 Posted by NewComicGuy (131 posts) - - Show Bio

Commissioner Gordon seems the most likely to me.

#8 Posted by havoc1201 (522 posts) - - Show Bio

I think one of the family members will kill the Joker.

#9 Posted by Zavimbe (17 posts) - - Show Bio

People don't seem to realize how important Alfred is to the entire Bat-family. Especially to Bruce and Dick, he's like their second father and DC would be shooting themselves in the foot if they killed off Alfred,

#10 Posted by ImTheDamnBatman (3548 posts) - - Show Bio

Jim will die.

#11 Posted by The_Lunact_And_Manic (3286 posts) - - Show Bio

IMO, they can kill Gordon, Joker, Harley, Oswald , Pamela, that guy that thinks he's the Mad Hatter....hell, they can even kill Selina and I wouldn't care

Just don't kill Bruce, Drake, Dick, Damian or Alfred.

#12 Posted by bob808 (6785 posts) - - Show Bio

Batman could finally kill the Joker.

#13 Posted by RUKM (279 posts) - - Show Bio

@Zavimbe: Yup Killing Alfred would be like getting rid of Batman's Conscience

#14 Edited by Ravager4 (1627 posts) - - Show Bio

Won't be Barbara, Dick, Tim, or Jason. They're all in their own books and are presented in future solicits (and by that extension, James Gordon is on the cover to Batgirl #19, so not him either). Alfred and Damian are the only ones in any real danger, and of course Joker himself might "die".

#15 Posted by redhoodnet (153 posts) - - Show Bio

No one will die in my opinion.

I think it will be more of the death on the "Bat Family" idea. I do not think it will be because someone kills the Joker, but the fact that Batman will not let them kill the Joker.

#16 Posted by chalkshark (1195 posts) - - Show Bio

Man-Bat

#17 Posted by akbogert (3227 posts) - - Show Bio

@Ravager4: You know, while I think most people suggesting Damian are doing so because of disliking him rather than because he makes sense, there is a certain kind of logic to it in that a new person could become Robin, so killing him wouldn't necessarily end the Batman & Robin run. Particularly since we know Harper Row is going to be important in Snyder's Gotham. I don't necessarily expect that ( may quite possibly be right, since it's death of the family, not in the family), but it certainly fits both a narrative and a corporate sensibility.

#18 Posted by colonyofcells (2038 posts) - - Show Bio

They can only kill characters who are not needed in the comic books and the likely candidate is Damian who can easily be replaced by Tim in the Batman and Robin title.

#19 Posted by roboadmiral (553 posts) - - Show Bio

Everyone dies except for Batman, Nightwing, and Alfred. Batman and Nightwing can be all estranged and stuff and Alfred can be trying to bring them back together. Because that's the way its supposed to be. It won't happen, but I can dream.

Alfred is dispensable since he can be replaced by aunt harriet or uncle phil.

#22 Posted by Zavimbe (17 posts) - - Show Bio

I don't understand why people think that the Joker could kill Damian and Batman would just get over it and make Harper Row the new Robin. We saw what happened when Jason died so if the Joker kills Damian than Batman has every right to kill the joker and if he doesn't then it would be a insult to the fans. it would be like saying that Batman values Jokers life or his promise not to kill more than the life of his own child. No one is going to die in this arc but it has been a great story none the less.

Batman likes the Joker more than anyone.

Sad but true.

If Damian gets killed, Batman can always manufacture more children if he desires.

I feel that the title of the arc alone "death OF THE Family" signifies that the 'family' as we know it will be destroyed, not a single person. Bruce will come to the realization after having Alfred kidnapped, Barbara paralyzed, Damian captured, and Jason killed that he can't in good conscience continue to allow teenagers and young adults to risk death for his cause, and will put an end to the 'family' as we know it.

#28 Posted by akbogert (3227 posts) - - Show Bio

@Thatonekid131: He'd try, anyway, but I'm pretty sure they'd ignore him and continue to operate. Eventually he'd come back around. Besides, Harper's already ignoring his order to stop doing what she's doing, right?

Anyway, as I've said before, I don't think Joker or Alfred can die this early in the New 52 continuum. They're both too important to the overall makeup of Batman mythos.

#29 Posted by havoc1201 (522 posts) - - Show Bio

Jokers face is decaying and if he lives he will not have a face and he could be getting sick so i think this is kinda his end game so IMO i think this is the end for the Joker on way or another I think the joker will die probably by one of the family members hands but either way he will be back in time.

I'm surprised he hasn't died of an infection.

I have a prediction but its based on seeing some of the Feb covers. I don't know how much of my prediction is correct but it is based on that so I know some of it is. I put a spoiler block on it for that reason.

Alfred is maimed but Jason is severely injured. The Family think Jason is dead and Nightwing finally finishes what he started in Last Laugh and kills the Joker. Coincidentally, Nightwing beat the Joker to death in Last Laugh because he thought Tim was dead.

**SPOILER ALERT** DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVENT READ THE DEATH OF THE FAMILY TIE-INS

its got to be Alfred! hes MIA at the moment and we know the Joker tortured him. and at the end of all the ties in the Joker has a bloody serving platter with a lid on it. I think its going to be Alfred's severed head.

#33 Posted by Gordo (2 posts) - - Show Bio

it's going to be jokers head, the joker is really alfred under control like bruce was in batman and robin

ok, maybe not.....

#34 Posted by sunhawk (550 posts) - - Show Bio

Its Commissioner Gordon. It starts Babs on her path to become the Commissioner in the future and allows Steph or Cass to become the new Batgirl.

I hope it isn't Alfred's face/head simply because that would be far too predictable. I feel like too much tension has been built around this serving tray to have it be such a cliche.

#37 Posted by CobaltArchangel (28 posts) - - Show Bio

@Imagine_Man15: I couldnt agree more! all of the new 52 Batman crossovers have been really cliche. Its about time they try to stop pandering for extra sales and just right a good comicbook.

#38 Posted by havoc1201 (522 posts) - - Show Bio

The only thing that makes me think that it is not Alfreds head or face under the cover of the tray is that when the Joker showed it to Two-Face and the Riddler the acted Shocked like they couldnt believe what they were seeing and if it was Alfred i dont think they would have that reaction bc what do yhey care if the joker kills Bruce Waynes butler, so its something worse like Harley or someone they care about or part of the Rogue Gallery. IMO

#39 Posted by RedHood22 (31 posts) - - Show Bio

I think that this is leading to each of the Bat titles going off in separate directions. For awhile, we might not see a lot of interaction between Batman and any of the other Bat-family, except Damian (because of "Batman and Robin" and all.)

#40 Posted by wessaari (633 posts) - - Show Bio

the way I see it, its either Alfred or Damian.

#41 Posted by entropy_aegis (15445 posts) - - Show Bio

And this is precisely why I dont care for the current Batman line,it's all come down to death's and gimmicks.

#42 Posted by Skewer (325 posts) - - Show Bio

DC once did kill off Alfred in the 60's, it didn't last.

#43 Posted by Decoy Elite (29923 posts) - - Show Bio

I'm voting that no one dies.

#44 Posted by Crash_Recovery (850 posts) - - Show Bio

Why does the death have to be a person?

It's called "Death of the Family". We saw in the early parts of the story how Batman's desire to shelter his friends/family has led to a sense of distrust in the group. The story is about the death of them as a group. A dissolution.

I don't know why but this cracked me up. I just imagined joker laughing maniacally as he kills man-bat in front of the family, and everyone is just like, "man...who?"

Seriously though, if Snyder kills anyone, I quite.

It's Death of the family

Something is going to happen that is going to shake up everyone and leave them all estranged at the end.

Joker said Bruce was hiding a secret so I am guessing it is something that will rock everyone to their core.

A bit like the Tower of Babel storyline where Bruce had screwed with the whole JLA and ended up resigning.

#48 Posted by TheJSquad34 (42 posts) - - Show Bio

I really liked The Black Mirror and Gates of Gotham, but I have a bad feeling Snyder could be a one hit wonder with the media pumping him up too much.

#49 Edited by colonyofcells (2038 posts) - - Show Bio

I don't believe Alfred is dead altho Joker probably has removed all of the skin of Alfred and is serving Alfred skin salad. Batman will probably just hire 50 plastic surgeons to put back the skin of Alfred. As for Damian, Damian is surely doomed in Batman Inc. As for the knowledge of Joker about the secrets of Batman, maybe Ras Al Ghul is feeding Joker some info so Joker does not know all of Batman's secrets. As for the secret shared between Joker and Batman, it is probably the usual Joker knows Batman refused to kill the Joker many times which allowed Joker to do mayhem like cripple Barbara Gordon, etc.
