We all know or believe thatoncemild-mannered human being Bruce Wayne donsthe cowl of the Batman that he becomes a Demi-God, capable of going toe-to-toe with the super power big boys! Always managing to stay alive despite facing super powered villains left and right; even survived fighting against Darkseid TWICE in 1 year! I think it's safe to say he holds the record for longest survival rate in comics being around for over 70 years. With that said...
Q: What are some of the most unbelievable BATMAN survival stories you've read?
Remember, the more ridiculous the better!
Here's one example written just pretty recently circa 2007-2008:
Superman / Batman Issue # 39:
1st Page:
A hypnotized Superman is ordered by Darkseid's sorcerer to "KILL" Batman. He flies towards Batman with super-human speed that basically plows through an alien building cutting it in half as he also tears the ground below him. Superman then throws a powerful vicious right punch, but instead of striking his target, he hits another alien building/structure instead, since Batman manages to use his super-human quickness (or should I just say "human" quickness) to evade Superman's attack. Explanation? According to Batman: Superman just seemed "slow".
2nd Page:
Superman's initial blow obliterates the alien building/structure from the previous page. He then lends chase to Batman, and using his super-human speed again, appears right in front of the surprised Dark Knight -- notice the sonic "BOOM" on the panel (and he thought Superman seemed slow on the page before)! Superman then connects with a direct punch to Batman's sternum. A big "BAM" indeed.
3rd Page:
I don't know about you, but a direct hit like that from Superman should have blown a hole into Batman's torso. Yet, Batman is shown having survived that direct hit from Superman (surprise-surprise) with only some shattered ribs and "possibly a lung". More surprisingly, Batman still manages to stand up from his painful injuries.
Not seen on this page but on the next issue: Batman is later saved from being literally murdered by Superman, by turning invisible thanks to Orion's wife Bekka.
One issues later...
Superman / Batman Issue # 41
Last page:
It is later explained that Batman survived Superman's direct punch because he was "holding back".
So Superman was "holding back" when the 2nd punch he threw connected on Batman. But it's safe to say that Superman wasn't holding back when he threw his 1st "supposedly slow" punch that Batman was able to duck using his super-mortal speed, because well... it literally blew up a building!
Another lucky break for good 'ol Bruce!
Another amazing Batman Survival Story indeed!
What are some of yours?

List the Most Unbelievable BATMAN Survival Stories you've Read...
" @Jordanstine: Actually, that wound proved fatal. He was put in a healing thing which revived him "He was, but he still managed to survive the punch that was able to level a whole building in the 1st place. In fact, Batman was still able to stand up.
That in itself classifies as an amazing survival story indeed!
" How did he survive the implied homosexuality of the Golden Age?Bwa-ha-ha-ha!

That made me spit out milk and Cheerios from my nose!
OK I can't find the comics to post a scan but two that come to mind ( not so amazing as the above of course)
1. Batman falling from a plane over Vegas. Somersaults in mid air grabs the bottom of his cape to use as a mini parachute ( only big enough to slow him a little not enough to be a safe landing). As he gets closer to the ground he directs his "flight" path toward a casino. Takes his cape off wraps it around his hands and grabs on to the light bulbs forming display down the side of the building. they smash as he descends slowing his fall enough to save his life . TOTALLY believable.
2. An old superman/ Batman issue. Bat's is buried alive in a lead coffin ( so supe's wouldn't find, who didn't think til teh end that it must have been what he couldn't see through). Bruce uses yoga for several hours to turn himself around in the coffin ( the screws of course were only at his feet). uses the buckle of his utility belt to uncsrew the foot plate. Digs the loose dirt above him into the coffin behind him as he digs for teh surface ( no mention of how he was able to breath or hold his breath while face in dirt digging for life.
Both late 70's early 80's.

Wow!
I guess the writer mistook The HULK as simply just... Hulk Hogan.
Or maybe it's because Batman has the secret power of turning super powered men into just mere mortal men whenever he faces them!
Kind'a like how Supermen all of a sudden just became Nacho Libre when he attacked Batman.
^ This is what Superman turns into when he faces off against Batman...
oh c'mon. there's not any basis for that is there?
What about this vs Solomon Grundy?
Doesn't he have "Superhuman Strength"?
He's wiki says:
Solomon Grundy has superhuman strength and endurance. His strength has varied through the years, for instance, in the Long Halloween story arc, Batman beat Grundy, while at various points Grundy's strength is on par with Superman's.
Wh-wh-what?
Grundy's strenght is on par with Superman's?
So shouldn't that punch have obliterate Batman's face?
What's the writer's excuse... I mean, reason this time?
"Hey man, that show was boss.He survived being on the 1960's tv show, thats has to mean something.

Bat's beats Grundy like everytime they meet. Green Arrow also beats him a few times. He also takes down Grodd a couple of times.
What's more noteworthy is taking down Lobo (strength on par with Supes), and making Darksied bleed (Bruce must kick reeeeally hard).
Superman goes ape here, about to attack Bruce
Batman armed with the motherbox fighting Darksied
That was to get possessed Supergirl to stop beating up Superman.

Question ----- is Devil Wonder Woman just as strong as regular Wonder Woman, or does she have super strenght?
IF she does then I do not understand the thinking behind the writer who wrote this joke.
@Jordanstine: Grundy wasn't that strong back then...I think Grundy got his promotion after the JLA Unlimited. I think...
It wasn't in the comic book, but dodging Darkseid's Omega Beams in JLU episode "Destroyer" is just unbelievable.
@Jordanstine: OH MY GOD!
Dude you just blew my mind with Batman's super secret power! And it explains SO MUCH!
Batman's superpower (besides his intellect) is his ability to scare the crap outta anyone to the point that they lose their superpowers. Oh wow. Love it. =)
