Is it worth buying the Detective trades?

Batman.

I didn't buy any of them, I think the best Batman title is the main one. I

Booch and Man's run is very good and Layman and Fabok's run was also very enjoyable.

@lxlgiftedlxl: Honestly in the new 52 I have read Detective Comics, Batman and Robin, The Dark Knight & Batman. The main four that consist Batman, the Dark Knight is ok but the other 3 are really good reads. The best being Batman but Detective is definitely worth picking up.

Yes

Emperor Penguin and the Wrath stories are great. Everything else is meh.

@lxlgiftedlxl If you're trying to decide between either Batman or Detective Comics I would definitely recommend Batman! Detective Comics Emperor Penguin arc was decent, but the rest is below par compared to Court of Owls, Endgame, etc.
