I know Batman TAS showed him with that accent, but I question - is that how everyone really thinks of his voice when reading his comics? Yeah, he wears something that looks like a wrestler mask. There's nothing wrong with it but I just don't see it, I don't see Hardy's voice either (though it was badass).

How do you think Bane sounds when you read him?

When I first read him i thought his voice sounding similar to Boba Fett's original voice in the Empire Strikes back for some reason. Now I think of him sounding like the goofball in the DCAU version.

@farkam: I question whether TAS was really accurate when it portrayed Bane to be with that voice. To be honest I preferred Hardy's voice over the DCAU version, it definitely felt more sinister and it wasn't inaudible as some may claim.

at one point DC did a fake out where Batman and Bane where half-brothers becuase of a picture with Thomas Wayne and Bane's mother in a picture together but he is latino or at the very least mixed while his father is really still unknown his mother has always been shown as latino and Bane was born and raised in Santa Prisca Prison which isnt a really place but a none descript island near South America

If I remember correctly he was indeed latino. His mother was a rebel in Santa Prisca and he was born in a prison on that fictional latin island. His father was british though. Media that follows the comics closely pretty much always portray him with that accent, TAS, Young Justice, most if not all of the animated movies,etc. In the commentary for Dark Knight Rises it's stated that they wanted his accent to have an ancient latin type of vibe rather than latin american so he may even be of latin descent in that movie as well though it's hard to say since his origins were intentionally ambiguous.

He was born and raised in a jail, so his accent would be similar to what they had in the jail.

The prison he was born in was in Santa prisca, which is in the carribean. So yes he is Latino and his accent should be too. Tom Hardy's wasn't though, although it should've been. He was still a good bane though

his jail mate was an American and he teach him English so I always supposed that he had an American accent.

I use Tom Hardy's voice now when I read Bane. But that's a good question about his ethnicity / voice because I remember a ton of people being so angry TDKR's Bane didn't have the accent or latino backstory.

Bane is latino, his mother is for sure latina, and he grew up in what is suppose to be a latin american jail. When I read it though I don't imagine an accent.

Yeah but why would TDKR Bane use Spanish words if TDKR Bane did not even come from Latin America? He was from a pitt in the Middle East or something of the sort. And Bane is just as Caucasian as he is Latino, honestly the DCAU never did Bane real justice as they did Joker.

He was fine after they revamped him, especially in "Over the Edge" even though that was a dream sequence

Wow, I always thought BTAS voice was kinda Russian. I never correlated the mask to him being a South American wrestler influenced character. Then again I read Knightfall when it came out, not years later after Bane was more popularized or after the whole Mexican wrestler thing became more mainstream to associate the two.

Yet if he grew up in whatever country the pit is at (this is evident cause how else would he get imprisond there other than if they did the original origin.) why does he not have a Arab accent as living there for years would change your accent most likely.
