Like, without Alfred, could Bruce Wayne even manage being Batman? Let's say Alfred died, how much more difficult would his absence make being Batman be?

And would Bruce possibly ever replace Alfred? Not for his Batman work, but just another butler to cook and clean and whatnot (Alfred does make all of Bruce's meals, I'm starting to wonder if the world's greatest detective is even capable of feeding himself without help)

He is not vital at all but having someone you know and trust in the position he is in makes it much easier to maintain the secret and keep the Batmen machine running.

Alfred isn't that important in the order of things for the Batcave, mainly just caring for minor injuries, and acting as his butler. However if Alfred died, it'd have a significant effect on Bruce. I mean, Alfred was basically his father figure ever since his parents were murdered, and one of Bruce's closest friends.

I disagree I feel that Alfred is essential to Batmans work and Bruce Waynes life. He is the only person Bruce Wayne trust with his personel affairs and one of the few people he trust as Batman with his equipment, Batcave, and life. Alfred is a big part of Batman an unappreciated part

Ah Nvm. If we were looking at it from the start, Vital. Not essential, but vital.

@Blood1991: I disagree. If you look at what he does, Batman could easily do all those things himself, like taking care of the Batcave. But I agree with the part about being one of the only people who can trust.

He needs Alfred. If Batman gets cuts or stabbed or any such injuries to his back, you need someone else to stitch them back up. Plus he needs Alfred to clean up after him, mend his outfits and prepare other such things for him. Bruce would have like 1 hour every night to be Batman if he needed to take on Alfreds jobs.

If he didn't have Alfred he couldn't be Batman anymore because he would be too busy cleaning the batcave, cleaning the mansion, feeding himself, laundry, etc.

Of course he could do it, but if he lost Alfred, he'd be psychologically recked. Losing his mother and father, Jason (even though he came back), and Alfred would be too much.

Well, having Alfred around definitely doesn't hinder his activities as Batman.

Batman would die without Alfred. It's pretty much that simple. He would never be able to find someone he could trust as much.

Batman needs Alfred to stay sane. In the comics, besides fighting crime, the biggest issue Batman deals with is his pain and anger from his parents dying. He needs Alfred to talk to and confine in.

I think Alfred is vital. Bruce is gonna need somebody to confide in, and be supported by. Plus, without Alfred, Bruce would go mad. The Joker is always saying how Batman belongs in Arkham and that there's hardly any difference between them. Without Alfred to ease the weight of Bruces problems he would just probably gradually turn evil. Alfred is like a moral compass to Bruce.

Alfred is the father of Batman, without Alfred he would en as just a damn angry kid or just a vigilante.

Alfred's medical expertise is more vital than Alfred himself.

Alfred serves as the anchor and the barrier between Bruce and Batman. He keeps Bruce grounded, and reminded that he is still a human being with human flaws. Alfred is the voice of reason in Bruce's life and probably the only person he fully trusts.

Alfred more is vital emotionally than physically, he means a lot to Bruce.
