Gotham Academy has been getting rave reviews and has sold pretty well for a book that doesn't feature any known characters. Though Batman doesn't star in (but makes occasional appearances), this is still technically a Batman spin-off, so I thought this thread is appropriate for this forum.

Here are some basic information about the contents of this book (spoilers included).

Firstly, Gotham Academy is Gotham City's most prestigious boarding school, funded by none-than Bruce Wayne, but it also has ties to Arkham Asylum. The book stars Olive Silverlock, a teenage student who attends Gotham Academy. However, during her freshman year, she went through a traumatic experience that involved Batman, and because of this, she hates him very much and accuses him of ruining her life. If you've been reading Arkham Manor, you would know that Silver's mom, Sybil Silverlock, is an inmate in Arkham, and she was brought there by Batman. Though her capabilities are still unknown, it has been implied that she is an arsonist with some possible pyro-based abilities (an ability that Silver may share with her mother), and a multiple personality disorder. She was comatose after Arkham Asylum was destroyed, and Batman considers her a high threat if she wakes up. Towards the end of Arkham Manor, Sybil has escaped and her whereabouts are currently unknown though Silver does not know that yet.

Other members of the cast include Silver's best friend, the energetic and lovable Maps, who is also the sister of Silver's (ex-?) boyfriend Kyle, "mean girl" Pomeline, Colton, Gotham Academy's go-to guy for anything, and grumpy Headmaster Hammer.

This is one of DC's most unique books, and it differs greatly from the other more serious titles. It's charming and fun, but at the same time has a lot of heart with extremely likable and deep characters. It's a Scooby-Doo like mystery but with a Gotham twist, plus it has wonderful art.

As of issue 6, things have become more interesting with the addition of Gotham Academy's latest student....Damian Wayne!
