These days when something comic related is announced, it's usually through a well orchestrated PR event. Sometimes it involves a bunch of creators sitting around taking questions or a pre-written press release with all the information and some preview pages.

When BATMAN: EARTH ONE, by Geoff Johns and Gary Frank, was released, we all had an idea a sequel would be coming. The first volume was a success on the sales charts and it had an ending leaving you wanting more. It was just a matter of time until a sequel was announced.

Turns it it was announced...on Twitter.

Honored BATMAN: EARTH-ONE by me and the amazing @1moregaryfrank was chosen as one of Barnes & Nobles best of 2012! tinyurl.com/d8wukrb

    @geoffjohns It's just a shame that there won't be a vol' 2....

Batman Earth One Vol 1 has been a massive seller in bookstores and comic stores. Vol 2 is good news to all concerned. Even a brief cessation of hostilities...whoops....looking forward to it! @1moregaryfrank @geoffjohns
    ? robertliefeld (@robertliefeld) November 19, 2012
@robertliefeld @geoffjohns Thanks, Rob. I'm looking forward to getting into it. Geoff's cooking up a great chapter 2.
    ? Gary Frank (@1moreGaryFrank) November 19, 2012

As you can see, we are getting more. Chances are, Gary Frank has already begun working on it.

If you missed it, here's our look at the first volume. We'll have to wait for more information in regards to an actual release date.

Did you dig the first volume and are you looking forward to a second?

Thanks to Joe Charmley for gathering all this up.

Batman Earth One was terrible. The characters were jerks, but not lovable jerks, especially Bruce and Alfred. The art was mostly good, but the something seemed off, maybe just seeing Batman with visible eyes. But between Scott Snyder knocking it out of the park in Batman, and how amazing Year One was, I just have no desire see more of this universe… unless maybe it was Batman Earth One meeting Superman Earth One. That's aspect of New52 Justice League has been totally disappointing so far, so an Earth One book could satisfy that desire.

I'm always up for a good Batman tale, but can somebody explain to me if there is some sort of catch to this book. I mean, is it just another look at a Batman origin, or does it bring something new to the table?

Agreed,it was mediocre the only good thing was badass Alfred and I liked the direction with Penguin. As far as Batman is concerned Johns made it clear that Batman is an idiot with a deathwish and fans justified it by saying it was a realistic depiction.

Newsflash for those guys,Nolans Batman is realistic too but he does'nt get his ass kicked by every Tom,Dick and Harry.

I kinda thought Batman Earth One was only mediocre. If hardcore fans felt that Nolan's Batman was missing the 'detective' part, they aren't going to feel different about Earth One.

Also, while I enjoy most of Johns' work, not everything he does is solid gold. May I remind everyone his involvement of the Green Lantern movie.

And I'm just not a huge fan of Gary Frank's work.... I know there's no way to say it without sounds like an ass, but something about his style bores me.

It really is a unique take on the Bat origin. Im a huge Batman guy so I knew I would probably enjoy it even if there was nothing really new, but I was very pleasantly surprised. It has a tone to it like no other Batman, and in some ways is a better "real life" take on Batman than Nolan's.

This book was ok. I do like Gary Frank's artwork for the book and I like the new interpretation of Alfred and the Penguin... but that was all I liked about it. My biggest complaint with the book was how Jim Gordon was written, that was awful. Johns simply isn't a good Batman writer IMO.
