Final Crisis is still canon??!!!
No, it's not.
Though we have little to no information on the matter, I'd assume Darkseid invaded Earth again in some capacity or the JLA was boom tubed to Apokolips accidentally (if you remember them stating every so often they boom there after the ORIGIN arc) resulting in a short war in which Darkseid hit Batman with the Omega beam.
@arturocalakayvee: LOL, the panel is exactly taken from Final Crisis and the latest Justice League issues and the last Forever Evil comic confirm Darkseid last met the League in the origin story, they never saw him again after that, they've briefly mentioned him though.

Actually, this is the exact panel from FC, it has slight differences :P
But on a serious note - if the JLA hasn't met Darkseid since ORIGIN then Final Crisis most definitely couldn't have happened. It's contradictory. I dunno, this is just not thought out by DC.
So is this just Tomasi going down a road DC forgot to tell him doesn't exist any more? Or is he really running along the lines of Morrisons Batman Inc.?
I think the Batman portions of it are canon, the rest I dunno. New 52 is clusterf*ck.
But how can it be? In the same comic, Batman said they hadn't seen Darkseid since the Origin story, and clearly the Darkseid is completely different.
@frozen: no, just batman getting tagged by omega beams
@frozen: yes of course I know that! But martian manhunter died in final crisis and he is fully alive in new 52. Batman and green lanterns timelines were unchanged in new 52. No one else's. If final crisis was canon that would mean some part of everyone else's pre new 52 canon would still be canon. But since grant Morrison's batman stuff is still canon and batman was in final crisis I think that only his part of the story is still in canon.
Unless someone besides bats and GL mentions final crisis
I can't even tell what's canon anymore in the New 52. DC says Batman stuff is still canon from Pre-52 but Dick is 16 when he becomes Robin, everything happened within 5 years, Dick was never in the TT, Steph wasn't around, he only fought DarkSeid once and clearly didn't die. So how could this still be canon? All these inconsistencies and I only named a few. They should of started the New 52 off with Batman Zero Year then write new canon as they went along...Same with GL i guess but I stopped reading that a little bit after Johns left.
@ultrastarkiller: Batman's stuff is canon, not dick or Stephanie. And batman never died in new 52 or pre new 52
@jayc1324: Ya and that's weird. Since they're, mostly Dick, are a huge part of his canon.
And I know Batman didn't die in Pre-52, I read the Road Home and the Return of Bruce Wayne, you know what I meant.
@ultrastarkiller: I thought it was established Bruce has been in action for 10 years, but only was discovered to be a real person, as opposed to an urban legend, in the past five?
@scouterv: When? Cause in Zero Year he was out in the open being addressed by Riddler in front of almost everyone. And the Comish knew of him. Right? I could be wrong idk.
@ultrastarkiller: Somewhere there's a thread on here, (I think it's actually in the Batman section,) that says the Timeline Doesn't Make Sense, or something like that was the title.
One of the last entries I saw was an official Ten-Year Timeline, that showed when he started and some of the things that had happened.
@scouterv: the ten years thing was an idea some fan had. The ten year timeline shower his parents deaths and him training all over the world. Not him being active as batman for ten years
@ultrastarkiller: Yeah I know what you mean I was just making sure. And I find that weird as well, they want Batman's stuff to be canon and no one else's but a lot of batmans stuff involves other heroes. Everyone speaks about Darkseid as if they have only seen him from the first JL arc but apparently batman met him again at some different point that no one else witnessed or experienced, meaning it can't be final crisis, it just makes no sense and is confusing to think about @orangebat: In a series focusing on damian Wayne you kind or have to reference Morrison's work. And every new 52 bat series has referenced his work as well. Morrison's batman is one of the only things that is definitely canon from pre new 52, writers have to respect it so everything makes sense.
Confusion reigns....
I think we should all give Tomasi props though for practically saying, "Screw this New 52 continuity. THIS is how it REALLY happened."
Damn this is really confusing. Infact till now I'm also confused as to why Barry Allen and Bruce arent BFFs since at the end of Flashpoint he gave Bruce his dad's letter wearing the New 52 costumes already. And also In Death of the Family Babara did mention something that references her experiences in the Killing Joke which made me think that the Killing Joke did happen in this continuity.
@transformers1024: Hmm maybe that's actually what Tomasi is doing after all. Not giving a crap about new 52 and just telling the real story. New 52 continuity is crap anyways @vandersexxx: killing joke did happen in new 52. Barbara used to be Oracle and everything in new 52 continuity
@transformers1024: That's a brilliant way to look at it.
I think the Batman portions of it are canon, the rest I dunno. New 52 is clusterf*ck.

Dunno,ask Didiot.
I think 1 day batman wake up in a bad mood pick up a his radion gun use his mother box to go to apokolips kill darkseid and in the process he end up stuck in the past
Dick said he took over as batman over a short period of time in the new 52 nightwing so yeah final crisis happened. Or at least Batman was sent to the past by darkseid and eventually returned.
New 52 was meant to get new readers on board by giving the universe a fresh start, so that the new readers wouldn't be scared off by years of continuity. But instead of just starting a new continuity, they are adding onto and changing the old one at whim, so the new readers are just as lost as before and older readers don't know what's real anymore (which is a strange thing to say about comic books but you get my point).
All batman and green lantern solo stories were unchanged. This was confirmed at the beginning of the new 52. Only there justice league stuff has changed unless it impacted their solo books some how. IIRC we even had a reference to Dick being batman which to my understanding could only have happened if batman had died.
@jashro44: I thought that the Justice League origin in New 52 was set five years in the past, so a lot of Justice League stuff is still canon.
