Costumed as a bat to prey on the fears of criminals, and utilizing a high-tech arsenal, he became the legendary Batman.

    Again, sorry to sound like a broken record, but I'm new to comics.

    With that out of the way, I realize that Forever Evil, a mini series, is out soon. I've also noticed that several bat characters--Batman, Catwoman, Nightwing--are involved in the story.

    Are mini series important? Or are they more along the lines of "what if?"

    They're canon stories that affect the main DC universe. So yes they're kinda important
