It seems Katana has taken center stage today. Earlier we saw the announcement that the DC heroine would be seeing her very own, self-titled series and now we've been given a better look at the character who is also set to appear on DC Nation's Beware The Batman animated television show. Although the show has seen its fair share of ups and downs (changes in the release date, the show placed briefly on hiatus), it seems DC is ready to begin making a marketing push. In a recent issue of the DC Nation kids magazine readers were given a look at the character designs and bios for the character's that will appear on the upcoming television series and one of them just so happens to be Katana.

Among other characters we will be seeing on the small screen once Beware The Batman launches on Cartoon Network are Professor Pyg, Mr. Toad, Alfred and of course, Batman. You might notice some interesting differences in the character costumes and their overall appearances on the TV show. The most discernible difference is likely the portrayal of Alfred on the show. Often when we see Alfred's character, he's dressed in a tuxedo and looking rather dapper. On Beware The Batman Alfred will have a very different look. The character will still wear a suit, but this time his face will look a lot more hardened. The designers have given him a much bulkier physique than what we are used to seeing, and it looks like he will be doing a lot more than just playing Butler at Wayne Manor.

== TEASER ==

It will definitely be interesting to see the show when it finally premieres on Cartoon Network because it is so remarkably different from the different versions of animated Batman we've seen in the past. Not only that, but it might be neat to see some all-new faces on the show like Professor Pyg, Humpty and Metamorpho since none of these characters have made their onscreen debuts, at least not yet. What do you think of the upcoming Beware The Batman show premiering sometime in 2013 on Cartoon Network? Are you looking forward to watching it? What do you think of all the Katana news we've seen today?

Metamorpho is in Justice League. The episode "Metamorphosis"(it's in two parts) and he's seen a few times in the background of Justice League Unlimited..

Hmm... not sure about this series...

This doesn't look very promising...

No gracias.

Professor Pyg for a kids show?? Must be a complete re-write.

This looks bad.

LOL if i were a villian id be more scared of Alfred than Batman. Show so far doesnt look promising. Batman cartoons have pretty much gone down hill since TAS IMO

Also they really just need to spin off of young justice. I prefer those designs and those villians

Why do Batman's ears look like antennae? He is not a bug. I also disapprove of Alfred as a former spy. I didn't like it in Earth 1 because Alfred's funnier with his traditional history. With military experience he's boring.

a spirit, captain marvel, plastic man or hawkman woulda been WAY cooler...stop trying to outdo batman: tas..can't be done

#13 Posted by gammaduck (4 posts) - - Show Bio

Metamorpho was on JUSTICE LEAGUE and BATMAN: BRAVE & THE BOLD. He's hardly new to the animation game.

#14 Posted by Nickpick (31 posts) - - Show Bio

I read an article a couple months back, they basically said Batman's main villains won't be on the series. Especially Joker. I will give this series a chance but Mr. Toad? ...really? lol

#15 Posted by monkeyonurback_ (84 posts) - - Show Bio

@PortlandsBatman: there's gonna be no joker :( only new / not well known batman villains!

#16 Posted by CODYSF (2053 posts) - - Show Bio

I remember thinking Green Lantern was going to suck but in the end I love the show so yeas I will give this show a shot.

#17 Posted by Uzisnoopy (3 posts) - - Show Bio

@PortlandsBatman: The show's producers actually said at one point that they would not be using the classic Batman villains... so, no Joker.

This is a blessing in disguise in my opinion. Everything revealed about this show so far has contributed to the deduction that it will be complete garbage. At least the Joker won't be tainted by its failure.

I guess you missed Grant Morrison's Batman! :P They are both great villains. Pyg is awesome.

Meh, still looks like crap.

"Preferred weapons", what is this, a videogame?

#20 Posted by Dark_Sound (7 posts) - - Show Bio

To me, this show looks like it doesn't really know what it wants to be.

Campy, cartoonish-looking villains, but a beefed up, muscly, gun-toting Alfred?

And actually Metamorpho already made his debut in the Justice League Animated Series from memory..

Alfred, what did they do to you?

Thy are from Morrison's A&R run.

I've never even heard of this show. Is it set in the 1800's or something?

#23 Posted by Dark_Vengeance_ (15127 posts) - - Show Bio

Proffesion: Philantorpist? when did giving away money become a occupation? and why the f*ck does Alfred look like he's in the mob? and WHY one the hell is mr.Toad here? He only appears in 2 issueas of Batman and Robin and then dies!

#24 Posted by The_Roman (3297 posts) - - Show Bio

@Babs: See I didn't read a tremendous amount of pre-Flashpoint DC.

Yes, I know, I'm a criminal who should burn in hell.

Oh DC and you were doing so well in the animated department.

#27 Posted by Icon (2108 posts) - - Show Bio

I don't people don't like change but I think changing up the supporting characters and villains could be interesting. I'm curious at least.

#28 Posted by SmashBrawler (5978 posts) - - Show Bio

Man, if they replace Young Justice, Green Lantern or both with this, I'm going to be really, really pissed off.

#29 Posted by cameron83 (7643 posts) - - Show Bio

@PortlandsBatman: he is not in it,they are using all of the villains that are unused.I like it,I am tired of constantly seeing the joker,two face,etc

#30 Posted by Hybryda (42 posts) - - Show Bio

DO NOT LIKE :///

Alf looks more buff than Bruce... it's wrong... also I like Alfi for being this silent buttler, this guy behind the console in Batcave, not another muscle character...

Is this based on detective comic or is it not? couse this one looks like it isn't :///

Right? He actually almost was in B:TAS, they cast him and were ready and everything but something happened and it fell through and Mark Hamill just kind of got the job by chance. But Tim Curry would be amazing, and I think they should try again to get him if Hamill's truly done with the role.

So... If Mr. Toads in it that means its like the Batman and robin universe with Damian Wayne... Right?

So you gave him DickBat's villains????

So far, the only good thing about the show is the logo.

#42 Posted by curtman2k20 (41 posts) - - Show Bio

this looks so crappy, and to make not so well known villains, as the main bad guys in this show, just makes it worse, they should of just spun off the batman from Young Justice, or never canceled Batman the Brave and the Bold!

#43 Posted by SmashBrawler (5978 posts) - - Show Bio

@Necrotic_Lycanthrope: That's Grant Morrison for ya.

#44 Posted by haydenclaireheroes (7550 posts) - - Show Bio

I am not a big fan of the art style they are using for the show

Don't be so quick to judge. People thought TMNT was gonna turn out to be a bust but it actually suprised al lot of folks.

#46 Posted by Necrotic_Lycanthrope (2388 posts) - - Show Bio

@SmashBrawler:

:/

Meh. Never read Morrison's stuff. Outside of Aquaman and Happy, I guess his stuff isn't terribly smart and/or super.

#47 Posted by SmashBrawler (5978 posts) - - Show Bio

@Necrotic_Lycanthrope: He wrote Aquaman?

#48 Posted by Nightw BR (100 posts) - - Show Bio

Not sure I'll like this series don't like Alfred's design. Batman looks cool, but I'm really unsure about the villains.

#49 Posted by jointron33 (1813 posts) - - Show Bio

@madeinbangladesh tmnt sucks a$$

#50 Posted by Necrotic_Lycanthrope (2388 posts) - - Show Bio

@SmashBrawler:

Just went back to verify, but no it was Geoff Johns who wrote Aquaman.

I could've sworn it was Grant Morrison who wrote the book....
