Bruce Wayne, who witnessed the murder of his billionaire parents as a child, swore to avenge their deaths. He trained extensively to achieve mental and physical perfection, mastering martial arts, detective skills, and criminal psychology. Costumed as a bat to prey on the fears of criminals, and utilizing a high-tech arsenal, he became the legendary Batman.
I just read the Batman Unseen TPB by Doug Moench. It was more about detective work than martial arts/fighting. Also, Doug Moench wrote a novel called Batman: Forensic Files that sounds kinda like what you're looking for (except it's not a comic book). Another thing that I read that was pretty good and more of a mystery/detective story was the 2006 Man-Bat limited series.
I'd say those are all worth checking out if you're into Batman and you can find them for a good price.
I recommend the following storylines for the detective aspect:
Batman & the Monster Men - The Long Halloween - Dark Victory - The Black Mirror - Paul Dini's run (especially the Private Casebook TBP) and Broken City for a much more modern tale.

Hold on here. If one wants to see the best of Batman's detective abilities, NEVER read The Long Halloween.
Hush, Year One (best starting point for Batman comics), Black Mirror, Knightfall, Night of Owls, Killing Joke, Death of the Family, A lonely place of Dying, etc.
