Is this issue good enough to kick my (and your) ass?  Is it worth picking up?  Does it live up to the hype?  Am I being too hard on it?  Find out below.

I really enjoyed it.

Batman is not actually dead, this was explained in the last Final Crisis. Also the Superman example could applied to so many Batman  crisis'

That's the thing, I'm not crazy about all the crossovers but I did enjoy it.  Great art.  Good writing.  Loved seeing the whole 'gang' around.  We have a good mystery going.  I really didn't think I was going to enjoy it.

G-Man you are far too generous in your ratings! This issue was barely a 3.5. We're only reading it to find out who Batman is, and for something so simple i want to be engaged throughout the entire comic. This issue was just alright... minus a few scenes i've already forgotten the entire thing.

That makes sense.  I liked it too much to just give it a 4.  To me a 4 is just above average.  I'm not looking at in the grand scheme of the history of comics.  Who knows, this story could become too cliche and take a massive dive.  Based on this issue alone, I started getting excited.  But ask me again after I'm forced to buy a gazillion tie-ins to figure out what's going on.

Maybe i'm just still too new to Batman to be bouncing off the walls about it. It had pretty pictures, nice writing, but nothing made me want to turn the page. I wasn't gripped, i wasn't enthralled, i just felt like i was reading another comic not a major event. Maybe a second read through will prove a better reading experience.

Nice video, you made some good points. However this is about Batman and the Bat family, not about Superman. He's busy in outer space after Final Crisis, or whatever.

I think that the difference between Prodigal son and Battle for the cowl for Dick is that in the first one, Bruce asked him to take the mantle while he was gone, in here they all believe Batman is dead, if anyone takes the mantle it probably is like accepting he is finally gone, guess that's why Dick hasn't chosen to take the mantle even though everyone knows and says that he is the one man for the job.

Funny fact: Dick appears with the cowl at the cover of the issue, yet is the only one of the three contendants (Dick, Tim and Jason) to don't wear the costume in this issue

I dont clap in front of my laptop but i  just did THANK YOU FOR SAYING WHAT WE HAVE ALL BEEN THINKING!.  I agree about the Tony Daniels his artwork is pretty much what got me thru Batmn Rest in Piece.  I also bought this issue I am huge Batman fan but seriously if he is gone lets just get Dick into the Cowl so we can move on already.  Pretty harsh but I also bought the issue so from what i heard  from you G-Man it shouldnt be to hard to read.

Maaaaaybe I was a tiny bit harsh.  I'm just reeeeeeally tired of all these "events."  Despite that, I did give it a 4.5.  It was fun.  As far as Tony Daniels, he's the boss, forget Tony Danza.

Black Mask's gave-you-a-radio-activated-drug-while-you-were-sleeping spiel seemed very out of place, albiet an unimportant place.

I never knew Poison Ivy had moral-esque qualities; at first she's scantily clad, but when confronting pussy boy Damian, she puts on some 'clothes'. She's cute either way.

LOL G-Man what is you problem with Tim?......anyway It was a good issue and all (the fake batman running around looks sick) but at this point I'm not so hyped about Battle for the Cowl but I'll buy it in Graphic Novel form.
