Batman: Year One Trailer and Images
I cannot wait for this movie! DC animated movies always delivers... actually I bit taken back by Emerald Knights, I'm not a fan of the short stories anthology type movies... I hated the Batman one "Gotham Knight" I think it was called... but this one should be good!
It looks better than I expected, but it still seems a bit unnecessary. I feel like Batman's origins have been explored enough and that there are a lot more stories out there more deserving of animated adaption. But I like the animation, I'm sure I'll enjoy this one for what it is.I like to think of it as an introduction for those who aren't already familiar with the Batman mythos.

It looks like WB can't produce other characters than Bats and Supes.
Enough is enough already. How about Hawkworld? The Flash movie? Xombi anyone? etc?
NO MORE BATS OR SUPES!!!! STUPID WB! I'm not going to spend a cent til I see other characters!
I think G-man is crazy to me, from what little was presented in the trailor ,this totally screams Batman Year One.
I agree I'm not sold on the animation. I almost wonder if a more realistic CGI motion capture might have been better for something this grim and serious. I don't like the look of the cops bouncing up and down that is supposed to be walking. But of course I'll buy this.
If you haven't read this, its one of the greatest Batman stories ever told, maybe the best.

It either ends up colorful/unreal/stylized (Dreamworks, Pixar..) or looking like a videogame cutscene (which takes you out of the story most of the times)
Nah, good ol' fashioned hand drawn animation is the way to go for a crime & mystery Batman tale. (which isn't the way they went here seeing hi-tech digital animations)
Batman year one was an awesome story !!!! I`m really looking forward to this ! And yayyy a catwoman showcase !!
Looks pretty amazing. I read Batman: Year One I hope the film does it justice and from the preview it looks like that could be very possible.
Who ISN'T familiar with the basics of the Batman mythos?Them young'uns who watch cartoons but don't read comics perhaps? Cartoons are a better medium for introducing a character. I first learned the Batman origin watching the 90s cartoon because I wasn't interested in comics then.
I love Batman, love Frank Miller's work and i'm in love whith Eliza Dushku, so i can't wait to see it. Also Brian Cranston as Jim Gordon sounds perfect, but the guy from the O.C. as Bruce Wayne? I know it has to sound like a young Batman, but until see the film i can't coment much.
I don't like the animation at all honestly. I don't understand how this movie constitutes as an original animated feature if it's a straight up adaptation. Too bad Frank Miller couldn't direct this, then it'd seem more authentic, then again I saw "The Spirit" and maybe directing isn't his strong point, or alcoholism has made his general work suffer lately. I'm also getting kind of sick of Catwoman. What's the point of another animated short with her? She's in enough. Just feels like WB is trying very hard to impose that character on audiences with her starring in Year One, having her own animated short, having a large role and being playable in Arkham City, and as well starring in The Dark Knight Rises. WB has no integrity sometimes.
I saw this comic in my bookstore, but I didn't have any money! D':
...
The animation looks pretty good.
This is the story that introduced me to the world of comics. Still my all time favorite arc in the entire world. Flawlessly written by the legendary Frank Miller, accompanied perfectly by the pencils of david mazzucchelli. Brilliant. If you haven't read it you are truly missing out on some of the greatest storytelling in comic history.
This looks good and I appreciate the love and affection shown towards the source material. My gripe is do we still have to ape Frank Miller stories from 25 years ago still? We got Batman Year One in Mask of the Phantasm and Batman Begins. Now this just feels very redundant.

I STRONGLY doubt they'd have a big enough budget to make that CG motion capture look any good.

Mask of the Phantasm was based in year two, and that story was writen and published simultanously to year one whithout any actual conection to it.
