    ...I've been reading through Batman Year one, which I bought recently and note that Batman's suit doesn't appear bullet proof. Just wondering when this feature came along in the history of Batman comics? First time I saw it was in the 1989 Tim Burton Batman Film when he survived being shot at close range....

    In Earth-31 the batsuit is constructed out of plain cloth. Batman isn't armored anywhere except a bulletproof vest on his chest. Which is what the big bat logo is for. To draw attention to his armored area.

    Jason Todd explain when facing Batman he uses a body armours under the costume, this could be notice when he uses a knife agains Batman neck.
