Batman Gotham Knight anime in July!
iSHADOW says:
"i really dont like hearing batman and anime in the same sentence."
Agreed.
Although I don't like the idea, I can't say I didn't see something like this coming.
The anime style of art has never appealed to me and I've never been impressed by an anime/manga's storyline before. Honestly, I don't think this will do Batman any justice, but we'll see. And although I don't like the anime style in the least bit, I have to say the actual animation is beautiful and that the above screenshot does make him look like a B.A., even for an anime character.
As much as I hate anime, I think I'm going to have to give it a shot. My expectations aren't high, so hopefully I won't be too disappointed.
I knew there'd be plenty of people that'd be upset. Just look at it as something new. The recent "Animated" DC stuff has been great but has been done quite a bit. I'm really curious about how this will go. I think it's good that they're trying something new. And Superman Doomsday and New Frontier have been good so I don't think they'll let us down with this.
@G-Man: New Frontier was awsome. I even half to admit, as much as Superman bugs me, Superman Doomsday was good. DC has really stepped up their game in the animated department. Thats why I'm willing to give this Batman movie a chance, but it still doesn't feel right.

yeah besides that thing that the people of the video say about how thanks to the anime you can really see the fear that Batman causes to his enemies is a great idea.
Hopefully we'll see more characters appear
I like Anime, and I love Batman, but mixing the two... ehh... there are so many different versions of batman already, I'm afraid he's going to get re-done to death. But I guess I can't stop them, and we'll just have to see how it turns out. I have a bad feeling this is some marketting scheme though, a bunch of guys in a room said "Hey, Anime's getting more popular lately, and everyone loves batman, lets mix the two" X_x and those terrible scheme almost always go belly-up.
Although... everytime Batman's redone, I get to see a little more Scarecrow, and I /do/ love scarecrow... hmm...
Barry Flash says:
"Anybody know the exact Date in July? And will this be released straight to DVD?"
cough cough
Killer Croc, Deadshot and Scarecrow confirmed to appear. No Joker though, we might get a back story of him but I don't think we will see him though. Oh and Batman's going to be voiced by Kevin Conroy.

YAY! I luffles Scarcrow ^_^
but no joker? oh damn... that's not cool... well... I guess as long as they have the riddler still. But it's hard to imagine a batman series without joker still.
Hmmm, I remember as a kid I used pronounce Kevin Conroy, Kevin Corny. I used to wonder why he is called Kevin Corny but when I later checked it was Kevin Conroy.

lol, the strange things we think as kids.
If you look closely the art style varies a bit, thats because the production was divided among 3 studio's:Studio 4C, Production IG and Madhouse each with their own directors. Bruce Timm himself is one of the Producers. The writer's include:
-Josh Olson (A History of Violence)
-David S. Goyer (Batman Begins)
-Alan Burnette (Batman the Animated series, The Batman, Superman/Batman (comic))
-Jordan Goldberg ( Associate Producer of The Dark Knight)
-Comic book writers Greg Rucka and Brian Azzarello
The DVD extras include:
-A Mirror for the Bat: The Evil Denizens of Gotham City" - A stimulating documentary covering Gotham City’s most nefarious of characters, combined with a look into the symbiotic relationship Batman shares with his enemies.
-A sneak peek at the new Wonderwoman movie.
-Audio commentary from the filmmakers of Gotham Knight
Other Extra's:
-"Batman and Me a Devotion of Destiny: The Bob Kane Story" - The comprehensive chronology of the remarkable life of the creator of Batman.
-Batman: The Animated Series" Bonus Episodes - Bruce Timm selects his favorite episodes from Batman: The Animated Series.
As for the release date it's July 8th. You can catch the preview here: http://www.reelcomix.com/94-Batman-Gotham-Knight-Preview.html

*Variety also reports that DC's big team-up movie is back on track for a 2009 release. Writers Kieran and Michele Mulroney are busy polishing up the script, which is expected back at the studio in several weeks, and the cast has been advised to keep training for their superhero roles. Director George Miller is in pre-production in Australia. Adam Brody, cast as the Flash, is the biggest star in the superhero lineup. Rapper Common nabbed the Green Lantern role; other roles went to lesser-known actors such as Armie Hammer Jr. (Batman) and Megan Gale (Wonder Woman).
Meanwhile, Ain't It Cool News has a fresh rumor that actor Hugh Keays-Byrne was slated to play the Martian Manhunter.*
I have a feeling this is going to be the best decade of my life. Thank you God!
This is my favorite trailer. I like the music.

ooohhhhh! I didn't know that, sweet ^_^
I am looking forward to this movie even though I do love our normal animation. I originally heard that Christiane Bale was going to voice Batman in the movie but you cant go wrong with Kevin Conroy as Batman.

The art style couldn't be more perfect for Batman. I'm incredibly psyched for this.
"
Yeah, but I wonder how much attention this is going to get. These days I feel like Heath's death overshadowed everything.
I like the idea. Obviously I'm an anime fan, so the fact that it's anime is cool to me, and come on, it's Batman. I like Batman almost as much as I like Green Lantern. I only hope that people don't see the word anime and think that it is gonna look like Dragon Ball or Robotech (although Robotech had an awesome story). It looks like the art behind the recent Highlander anime or the team that did Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust. It's a lot cleaner and more fluid than DBZ and some of the older animes.

That's true. It's like there's a pall over the whole Dark Knight project and everything related to it; I'm still very excited, but it's different somehow...

It better be better than DBZ x.x it took those guys like five episodes just to power up, and whenever the chips are down, oh my gosh! A new version of Super saiyan? -_- jeeze. I don't think DBZ and Batman should ever be compared, or used in the same sentance unless to say how much MUCH more epic Batman is.
oh, hehe, but I guess you were talking about artist styles, sorry for my little rant, it just sort of came out.
Spotted an ad.
I wonder why Batman is green in one of those small six pictures. Oh, yeah and I just spotted a homage.
um... maybe it's the lighting making him green?
and yes, they are hyping it up just a bit, aren't they?
Knightwing says:
"No I'm talking about the red eyed Batman on the left side. "
it reminds me of hellboys comics
