.I never see this book come up in any "favourite Batman book" polls, but I got it recently and its one of my faves. Probably helps being a fan of anything Geoff Johns does. Anyway, I knows its a very different origin story, but that perhaps is why I am drawn to it. Anyone else have any love for this title?

I like it, was a good read

Of course alot of people on this board don't like it because it wasn't batgod but if you can get past that I think it was great

its not on many favorites not becuase he isnt "Batgod" or some bull crap like that its becuase this verson of Batman is a selfess, childess, revenge seeking hypocrite who stands for nothing and never learns anything just got his revenge and just decides he will continue being Batman and not use guns even thou neither of those things makes any sense

I don't even like Batman due to plot armor but even I thought this was bad. Superman Earth One on the other hand, was pretty awesome.

I'd say it wasn't one of the better Batman stories mainly because I don't think Johns writes a great Batman.

I think it's an overall good story but not a good Batman story. The only thing that really makes it Batman is that he wears the costume but why he decides to put the costume on is the shakiest part of the story and doesn't get much justification.

It was an interesting take the classic Batman mythos, but there was nothing about it that I felt was memorable.

I did like the Johns' version of Alfred in Earth One though.

I with everyone here this Batman was an ass hole and had a stupid looking costume but still a good read the only thing I liked about it was Alfred the ONLY THING

I didn't dislike it because it wasn't batgod. That is always the Johns fanboys' defense of the way he writes Batman. We don't like the way he writes Batman because he writes him as inept, petulant, and plain stupid.

There's a monologue in John's pre52 Action Comics by Lighting Lad about how in the future no one remembers Batman because he never really mattered. That is how the man feels about Batman. He writes him as an incompetent loud mouth jerk 95% of the time and as simply ineffective the other 5%.

I thought it was pretty good for a GN or elseworlds story kinda like marvels ultimate line

People that don't like it can't seem to grasp the fact that it's friggin' EARTH ONE, and obviously won't be the same Bruce Wayne.

They don't like it because he's different - WHICH IS THE F**KING POINT!

I criticized It because of the new character that is invented for earth 1 and the new character that is made for this new batman is what really turns me off and that character is an unlikable jerk that for the first time I wouldn't mind being punched it face by hal! the funny thing is I hate hal jordan

if this book was in continuity ide hate it but since its not its okay read

Having any version of Batman getting beat by fodder thugs is a crime against humanity.

Yeah I would agree he doesn't seem very skilled, but I guess Johns was trying to emphasise the fact that this is an origin book. However Miller's Batman in year one starts out as a real ass kicking dude, so I would have liked to have seem more martial arts prowess. However, aside from this I still enjoyed the book....Alfred rocks!! Royal Marine's certainly kick ass.

I liked the book, it was by no means one of the best Batman books I have ever read but I found it to be an interesting take on the character. And like most people I thought Johns' version of Alfred was great.

Superman Earth One was awful.

Earth One was definitely the most 'grounded' take on the character. Moreso than Nolan's.

@jonny_anonymous: actualy he isnt this Batman however is a mess of a character the differance is that if he was just a messed up person in the story you could see it through his actions but how this Batman reacts in a given situation is completely inconsistant some times he is randomly givening people money and others times running into situations he has no buisness being in hell the reason he confronts the Penguin at the end of the story makes no freakin sense and only did so becuase the plot

One of the worst portrayals of Batman I've ever seen and alternative reality or not it SUCKED. I do agree with some other posters here though that his Alfred was pretty cool and that to me is a crime when Alfred comes across as cooler than Batman does.

Oh and Earth One Superman is great!

Johns should stay away from Batman, I wish it was Batman who was leaving the team instead of Superman.

Indeed, people need to lay off with the uber realism, of Batman, it will never work. Nolan movies are as close as it gets and even then he should have been shot down in two day. Batman is Batman because he made himself into more than just a man, otherwise just put Jimmy Olsen on the Batsuit and throw him to fight of Darkseid.
