Why we have to wait so long between franchises. Why can't Batman be like James bond, different actor every few years, but banging out regular single story films two or three years apart. We waited 10 years from Batman and Robin to get Batman Begins and now its gonna be probably at least 5 years after DKR before we get another Batman film (I'm not counting Batman v Superman). Any ideas anyone?
Batman
Character » Batman appears in 23651 issues.
Bruce Wayne, who witnessed the murder of his billionaire parents as a child, swore to avenge their deaths. He trained extensively to achieve mental and physical perfection, mastering martial arts, detective skills, and criminal psychology. Costumed as a bat to prey on the fears of criminals, and utilizing a high-tech arsenal, he became the legendary Batman.
Batman cinematic Universe, I don't get it...
Can't speak for past situations. These days?
Well, DC wants to craft a shared universe. It's a popular misconception that DC and WB do little to correct, but there's more to their world than just Gotham City and Batman. Combine that with how much Batman there always is on the market, I have to think that on some level, someone is thinking about oversaturation and the fact we've already told a lot of Batman stories, they probably wanna try working on other heroes. Lord knows they'll have to try really hard if they want Green Lantern to succeed this time around. Aquaman may be a tough sell initially as well.
The allocation of resources, I think, will put a stall on any Batman movies for the next few years, like you said. I wouldn't even say five is the right number. I'd say seven, with the new Batman movie probably leading into the second JL movie if we get that far. Of course, one has to wonder what stories they'll tell with an older Batman. If he's in his forties by BvS, I personally would love to see a Battle for the Cowl movie, although the odds of that happening are probably slim to none.
Bond (while I don't personally like him)
Well I would rather they take their time making new ones and making them good than them rushing them and them being crap. Wouldn't you?
I think they are coming out quite regularly, obviously it won't be as fast as Bond since Batman is more specialized towards comic fans and blockbuster fans. Bond (while I don't personally like him) is much more generally loved by both older and younger people.
Id say Batman is liked as much if not more than Bond.
Batman is in pretty much every form of media so appeals to pretty much any audience. Whilst Bond really isn't.
@mrdecepticonleader: I don't know many middle aged people who likes Batman, most of them seem to like Bond though since he was cool when they were young too.

That is one demographic though.
@mrdecepticonleader: That's the point I tried to make in my original post. Bond appeals to all demographics, Batman does not, no matter how popular he is with the ones he does appeal too.

But he doesn't, he doesn't appeal to small children like Batman does, we don't have James Bond bed sheets or James Bond Imaginext like they do with Batman for example.
We don't have any current James Bond video games or any James Bond comics currently or any James Bond action figures.
Batman appears to a much wider audience than Bond does.
Also Batman has been around for 75 years this year I am sure there are middle aged fans out there. Just because you aren't aware of any doesn't mean there aren't any.
@mrdecepticonleader: Small children won't pay to go watch a movie with a too high rating for them though. Until I see any actual statistics I stick by my belief that Bond appeals to a wider audience.
Because we'll get Bat-Fatigue. People love Batman, but they can't take him being constantly shoved down their throats.
Beata
It's because we don't need to have a Batman film every two to three years. If anything, I want Batman to have less of a film presence and let some of the other characters in the DCU establish themselves to the mainstream audience because I think they have a lot to offer (incredibly naive thinking I know).

Bond appeals to movie going audiences Batman appeals to pretty much every audience.

It's the money that will determine how frequently new movies will come out though, which is what OP was asking about.

Well it is how long they take to make as well though. Bond might come out more frequently because he is a movie only character for the most part.
Even then we have gotten Batman films frequently from Begins onwards, let's not forget animated movies we get as well for Batman.

Hey dudes, I am a "middle age" Batman fan!!
..anyway, Bond appeals to a wider demographic I would argue, well he does in the UK where I come from. My 75 year old in laws watch Bond as do my own parents, but they wouldn't go to watch a Batman film. The point is however, Batman is THE most popular comic book hero and comic book heroes are still very in vogue, so why no Batman solo film in the pipeline?
Here's hoping for some announcement at Comic Con in a couple of weeks...
