Each week we take a close look at a cool comic book collectible that you'll want to add to your personal collection. This week we're looking at Batman once again. There have been many Batman action figures over the years but with the New 52, he has a slightly different look. DC Collectibles has a new line of Justice League figures and the first to go on sale is Batman (you can order the figure here if you can't find him in your local comic shop).
The box is simple but has an elegant look to it. You'll immediately recognize the Justice League logo and the the design has the same peel away effect fro the new logo. He looks good but the real question is what is he like outside of the box?== TEASER ==
The first thing you'll notice as soon as you get him out is how solid he is. This is a heavy and sturdy figure. I've actually had a figure break before while trying to position it to take some pictures. This one isn't going to break unless you get really rough with it.
This figure is almost simple in design. I mean that in a good way. Because we've seen so many Batman action figures, we don't really need any bells or whistles with him. He's a great looking figure and that's what you're going to want in this new Justice League line.
He comes with a stand but doesn't need it to be put on display. His feet will hold him up and the cape also helps to prevent him from falling over. He doesn't have as much articulation as the past DC figures but I actually prefer it this way. I've always felt too much articulation takes away from the actual design of the character. Sometimes it felt like articulation was added to just to add more. It became awkward and it would just disrupt the look of the figure.
I do like the way this figure looks and stands. I believe Aquaman is the next figure being released. Thankfully they're not all coming out at once. That could be a little hard on the wallet. They will definitely look good next to each other.
What's the deal with that stand? It turns out because I got mine directly from DC in a press mailing, I got the stand. I apologize for any confusion or frustration for those that bought this already and have been wondering where your stand is. At least he doesn't need one to stand on his own!
