from what i've read, they are rebooting batman again.

    what's the point?

they have dozens of other villains/storylines and characters to include so why reboot to redo the same villains like 2face and joker over again.

I'm no where near a batman fan but I would like them to continue and get in other villains like mr. freeze, penguin, gorillas, lex luther (crossover), harley quin, hush or man bat.

i'd like them to introduce other supporting characters.

if you look at marvel movies, they have a stack of villians that are either A list or C list and those movies are still great to good.

I'm not entirely clear what the question is. Is it the concept of a Batman reboot that's being rejected or a Batman reboot that retreads the same villains as the Nolan series? Either way, I'll respond to both.

The Nolan trilogy was a self-contained story with a definitive end and a particular tone and style that make them somewhat unsuitable to larger universe where the Justice League could exist. Being a prominent member of almost every incarnation of the Justice League, and one of DC's most enduringly popular characters, there's no way he's not going to be involved, so they'll make a new Batman more suited to being in a shared universe without the baggage of an already existing series of movies.

As for villains, I would like to see them try some other people. I would really like to see well done renditions of Mr. Freeze, the Riddler, Killer Croc.

If they reboot the film series and focus on villains that haven't been done yet, would that be O.K.?

I'm pretty much over rebooting movie Batman. We all know how he starts no need to keep showing us slightly different versions of the same story. I would like to see more of Batman being a pro and not a rookie.

@tacos_kickass: That I can get behind. Not every superhero movie needs to be an origin story. The 1989 Batman wasn't. If they're that concerned about the one-in-a-million person who somehow doesn't know the basics of Batman's backstory, they can do a little montage of the bit where his parents get shot when he's a kid.

The only reason to reboot Batman again, is to put him in a JLA movie.

Nolan's Batman was so realistic he couldn't be in a JLA movie with all the superpowered freaks like Wonder Woman and Green Lantern.

    - I'm guessing that you are speaking about Movie reboots?

    - Well, i hate nolan's movies and i don't believe any other attempts at a Batman film should be made ever again. That's my opinion on the situation.

i personally didn't like the nolan batman films (bane one was ok)

I wish they gave it a more surreal tone like the old batman films...even though many people didn't seem to like them judging by reviews

i wish they made something for more dedicated fans. to me, the nolan movies were just a way to get huge number of audiences watching. yeah, they were good films. but i honestly felt (as a long time batman fan) that they could have done a lot more with it, added cameos, added dialogue and hints only real fans would notice...things like that...those are the things i appreciate most.

They are never going to make a live-action Batman film for comics fans. With production costs, film studios would go bankrupt trying to live on comic book money.

Probably not, but that's the reason I liked the old 1989-1997 movies so much. They gave more of a batman vibe then any other film i've seen. They may not have been perfect, but at least they tried. That plus the seal - kiss from a rose soundtrack made me love them *_*. The dark knight was good, but I didn't really feel the batman vibe in it, but then again, I guess that everyone has their own interpretations on how they see and feel batman/gotham.

I really like the Nolan films (best Batman content in recent years, imo), and if the trailers arent a red-herring it looks like the tone of Man of Steel could actually work with the Nolan-verse. However, WB has made it totally clear that the movies will be rebooted, and the rumours are saying that it will actually be a second year Batman story, so no new origin.

I dont know about which villains or what type of villains should be utilized, Bane is DEFINITELY one of my least favorite Batman villains (but I feel Nolan did a spectacular job with him). Penguin, IMO, used to be one of the stupidest villains ever, but Batman Returns REALLY hit a home run with DeVito. I think Clayface would be great to see sometime, DEATHSTROKE appearing at some point would be awesome, but im thinking in the first movie, they should use somebody who could be tied into Batman's origin a little bit (like Man of Steel and Batman Begins did). This approach is really smart, as it allows the director to explain the hero while explaining the villain and vice-versa, so its a more fluid plot.

Because DC is essentially batman and superman, especially when it comes to live action. That's just how they operate.

They need to reboot Batman so it make sense with the JL Movie Universe, the main problem is that they dont take enough time or try to go anothe route.

Also Nolan have to rebuild Batman so people care for him, the same with Superman.

Comic book Batman = Bruce Lee + Stephen Hakcings + David Copperfield + Sherlcok Homes + Jesus + Darth Vader + MacGuiver + Arnold Swhasrthenegger + Jackie Chan + Jet Li + All the CSI casting

There is no way that would ever work in a movie.

Also there is no need for a movie reboot, they could make a TV show, like Arrow but like an actually good show, one that isnt a Soap Opera.

Agreed. They should make it a TV show like Sherlock, 90 mins of pure awesomeness, I say get the people involved in Sherlock, they'll do an amazing job. Make it a TV show then put the same actor in the JL movie. And TV Batman should be combination of Sherlock + Bond + Bruce Lee + Jason Bourne + Tony Stark.

I'm not tired of them. It gives the opportunity to put a fresh coat of paint on the franchise and adjust to the popular sentiments of the age.

Having said that, I'm tired of rehashing origin stories. Anyone now knows that Superman comes from Krypton, Batman's parents were shot. It doesn't require showing again.

I think what they should really do is skip the Superman origin. Batman's origin is at least somewhat unknown to random people, but even my Mom knows Superman's home planet exploded and he came in a spaceship to Earth. I don't think she remembers Batman's origin even after watching all three Nolan films.

@rustyroy: They dont even need tha same actors, i mean they culd use his show and Arrow as Prequels, then we get a more mature Batman and Green Arrow, movie ones too, the show could also explain why we see the Batfamily and other things in the movies, it would also work to make the DC universe his own universe and dont need to follow what Marvel is doing.

They also could told us part of Batman origins and would be a good chance to lets the not so huge Batman villains gets some screen time with Batman and help them to make them bigger.

I'd like to see some of these super hero films take the Bond approach. There's no need to reset when a new actor comes on. Just pick up and continue. Loosely tie the films together like the three most recent Bonds (well, Casino and Quantum were pretty closely tied).

Yeah the TV series can show B-list batvillains like Deatshot, Madhatter etc and also allies like Dick and Barbara(They never get movie love). Btw I hope they don't incorporate the Arrow universe in the movieverse, the show is a bad ripoff of Nolan's Batman movies, half of the characters in the show are Batrelated and Dinah Lance is nothing like in the comics.

That's a cool idea but then they have to continue from The Dark Knight or Batman Begins or else TDKR messes up the continuity. They can also use this concept from the next movie onwards.

remember when they just made movies of shows, and characters without rebooting or backstories. They just made the movie and trusted people were smart enough to figure out what was going on.

"Less realistic" and "made for comic fans" are not the same thing. The Marvel movies are very much made for a mass public audience.

Thanks god i am not the only one that notice this, many Arrow fans just say is because Green Arrow and Batman are parts of the same universe they look exactly the same.

It would help Arrow, if Batman was in there, so he over shadows him and then they need to make Green Arrow his own character.

Like i have said, the Tv show would give you even villains for the Suicide Squad film, that WB wanted to do some years ago.

It would also help to clean all the messed up things that Arrow does.

Because evrybody know Batman is a Marvel character, lives in the Marvel universe and is an Avenger, wait a second there is something that dont make sense in this thing.

Oh yeah, he is a DC and live in the DC universe, this is like saying the new Star Wars movies should be like the new Star Trek ones, well Disney thinks that, but lets be honest, is not the same universe, for the same there is noreason to go and do the exact same thing that the others.

wow thank god you told me that Batman was published by DC...that totally changes....nothing about my comment

it doesn't matter who publishes what character....if Marvel can make a Captain America movie that's believable and not grounded in reality and have his suit look good but still kind of close to the comic's costume then WB can make a Batman movie that isn't grounded in reality and has a costume that's closer to the comic's suit...it's not the exact same thing...it's respecting the source material.....Nolan's films were great but at the end of the day he had to change the character so much that in the end Batman was just a guy who was good at karate and had some ugly armor

Are we talking about the movie?

If we are, reboots are necessary! It becomes difficult to both maintain the storyline film after film and still make it good. Look at the Superman film series, the Schumacher Batman films and the Spider-Man films...they tend to dramatically decrease in quality as each sequel is made.

@danhimself: Respecting the source material dont mean anything about how the character looks, ti means keep the essence of the characters, looks at Joel Shumacher his Batman acted like it does in the comics, his Gotham looks like the Gotham form Arkham games, the villains looks like the comic books version and many things like that, did you like his Batman more that Nolan?.

This is the exactly same dumb argument, that The Lord of The Ring rabid fan base do to say the original trilogy of films was awful, they didnt looks like in the images from the books, they dont do everything they do in the book, many character are out and they didnt film it in Spain, since Tolkien made the Middle Earth thinking on Spain.

Its a movie, its not the comic book and is not the Captain America, i mean the guy had only 3 month of training and they explain he got so good because he has powers, thing that Batman dont, he is a normal human, you have to respect that over all things, Batgod would be awful in movies.

Also The Punisher War Zone invented the suit the Captain America used in The Avenger movie, he used a black version and as cool as it looks, it made the figthing moves look bad and look so dumb with the mask they decide to make the Captain be maskless most of the movie.

Also, Joss Whedon say that DC is not Marvel and people should notice they need to do anoher thing and dont to go with the Marvel ideas, the guy that directed Avengers said this.

Also Marvel movies arent as good, as reallistic and dont "respect the source material" as much as people belive, in their movie Universe, Magic is alien technology, Gods are some type of Alternate Dimensional Aliens and many bizarre things that people overlooks to say they are exactly like the comics.

And i am happy with that, because this thing are MOVIES!!!!
