Bruce Wayne, who witnessed the murder of his billionaire parents as a child, swore to avenge their deaths. He trained extensively to achieve mental and physical perfection, mastering martial arts, detective skills, and criminal psychology. Costumed as a bat to prey on the fears of criminals, and utilizing a high-tech arsenal, he became the legendary Batman.
Yep. Devin Grayson wrote some around the year 2000 I think. She wrote the Scarecrow church story in No Mans Land Volume 1, among other things I believe. I think she wrote quite a bit of Nightwing too, if that counts for anything.

@v_scarlotte_rose: That's an interesting piece of information. I didn't know any woman had written Batman. Has any other written since? I only discovered that the first woman to ever draw batman was Becky Cloonan in 2012 and I think it's ridiculous that DC took that long to make it happen. She's the only one as well *shakes head*
@akindoodle: According to DCWomenKickingAss, Louise Simonson, Ann Nocenti and Christina Weir have also written Batman, and Marguerite Bennet is co-writing the upcoming annual with Scott Snyder.
@v_scarlotte_rose: Just read it. Thank you. She sounds like she knows what she's doing. Working with Scott Snyder as a first timer shows he's got some faith in her. I hope to see her name around more considering she's starting at the top in terms of characters and creators. And bless Scott Snyder for investing into new talent; he's really something. What a considerate fellow
@akindoodle: I suppose working as his co-writer could lead to her writing Batman on her own at some point. Considering there are a few Batman titles, she may get the opportunity when someone leaves.
By the way, if women writing comic books is something that interests you, apparently Kelly Sue DeConnick is the first woman to write on an ongoing Avengers series, starting last year with Avengers Assemble #9. I'd heard somewhere that Ann Nocenti may have been the first in 1984, but she's credited as 'Story Consultant', so I don't know if that counts.
I don't know any female comic book writers other than Gail Simone and Ann Nocenti and I don't want them to write Batman. Although I'd love to see a good female writer on Batman especially who can take the character in a new direction.
