Batman's been on TV and movies for a very long time. Who did the best job playing the Caped Crusader in a live-action film (or series)?
Adam West?
Michael Keaton?
Val Kilmer?
George Clooney?
Christian Bale?
Batman
Character » Batman appears in 23651 issues.
Bruce Wayne, who witnessed the murder of his billionaire parents as a child, swore to avenge their deaths. He trained extensively to achieve mental and physical perfection, mastering martial arts, detective skills, and criminal psychology. Costumed as a bat to prey on the fears of criminals, and utilizing a high-tech arsenal, he became the legendary Batman.
Who is the best Batman?
These things pop up all the time, I think Christian Bale did it the best that Kevin Conroy take on the character would not work in live action Christian Bale had the presence of a terrifying Batman Keaton was a suitable Batman for his movies but the plot sucked Clooney and Kilmer were jokes and Adam West is a self parody.
Never saw Adam West's Batman before...i'll totally look it up though, but George Clooney can be dropped from that list >.> Christian Bale takes the cake as Brucey/Batsy. Keaton was pretty good too.
Micheal Keaton all the way, too bad the second movie ruined his career(and batman movies for alot of people)
I think Keaton was the best Batman.
Bale is the best Bruce Wayne, but the one thing that stops him from being the best Batman is the voice. I don't care if I'm being nit-picky, but his "screaming Batman" voice is extremely distracting and sometimes laughable.
But if we're discussing voice-actors too, Conroy takes the cake.
Val Kilmer? He was a horrible Batman. lol
I think Clooney could have done it better if he was in Nolan's film. Bale doesnt do the part justice.
Nolanized Batman movies were good, but that Batman voice is just ridiculous.
Toss up between Keaton and Kilmer, for me as far as best Batman. Keaton did the best Batman but was a bad Bruce Wayne. Many people don't appreciate Kilmer's role because Batman:Forever was a ridiculous movie, but he was a very good Wayne and Batman, and he was the first guy to actually do some working out for his role.
And Bale is just in better movies. He is awful at portraying Bruce Wayne and even worse as Batman.
Wow, I didn't think anyone would say Kilmer. I'll have to rewatch that movie (it's been like 10 years since I saw it, lol)
Keaton is probably the best Batman to appear on film. Kilmer was bad, but Clooney as Bruce Wayne was worse. Christian Bale, I only saw him in Dark Knight and I didn't like his performance.
Though Adam West wins! The two seasons of the 1960s Batman TV series kept me entertained before we had cable.
I like Bale the best, because he was both a great Batman and a great Bruce Wayne, whereas Keaton was a good Batman (minus the killing) and not Bruce Wayne, Kilmer did a good Wayne but not a Batman, and Clooney's just plain sucked. And Adam West... I don't want to think about that :P
Adam West was a very good Batman but unfortunately he was pushed into doing campy Batman roles because it was the 1960s and Shark Repellent Spray was all the rage. I think all the Batman actors you mentioned above did a good job. George Clooney's Batman was also very good. I felt the emotional connection between George's Batman and Alfred when Alfred was dying and George's Batman behaved like a proper mentor to Robin and Batgirl. Unfortunately, the storyline of 1998's Batman and Robin film was campy like the Adam West film so George was forced to act in quite a campy way at times. I think Michael Keaton's Batman could be the best, he didn't need to use a gruff, loud voice (like Christian Bale's Batman) to be intimidating and his Bruce Wayne was sophisticated, intellectual, thoughtful and mentally twisted like Jack Nicholson's Joker.
I like Christian Bales Batman a lot, but he seems a little small, frankly. Also not a fan of the harsh voice.
I was hoping Ben Afflecks’s voice modulator would “mimic” Kevin Conroy. He is the definitive voice of Batman. I also like how large Ben Affleck is, as I always imagined Batman to be a massive shadow, not a thin/short one.
