yea but supposably he switched places with someone else in time thanks to darkseid. so he got thrown to the beginning of time or atleast to a cave making paintings on the walls and some other person died in his place that we never met

i think they should do a comic about bruce being back in time. he is now the smartest being on the planet. he can rule and conquer and start civilization for the first time. all the cave people will think he is a god or something, be terrified but will praise him once they get used to him

I liked Batman 687, but it would have had twice the impact had they actually released this and Batman and Robin #1 in the opposite order. This one should've come out last week to maintain a better flow between the two books.

Not even close, this was a complete and utter dissappointment for me.  The issue acted as more of an epilogue for BFTC and the art was horrendous. What's worse is the fact that I found B&R#1 so good.....

Batman #687 was better than usual Judd W. but we all know that that means it was just decent.

man Quitely is such a horrible artist....B&R didn't deal with what had happened in BFTC at all!! i liked 687 a heck of alot more

it almost brought a tear to my eye when they asked Alfred if he was alright and he said no my son just died

But I know what happened in BFTC, so I felt that it was bordering on redundant....
That was a good scene, however.
And I completely disagree with you about Quitely, I thought his art last issue was awesome.

Quitely draws makes everything look all wrinklely, even his Batman looks like he's wearing a suit that's 2 sizes too big for him....the way i figured it was this was after BFTC and Dick had pretty much decided to become Batman but was still struggling with the idea of how he wanted his Batman to be....he didn't want to go out and impersonate Bruce he wanted to be his version of Batman

I like Quitely's style a lot. His characters have a natural look to them and nothing seems "posed". It's a difference in what someone prefers, I guess.

The story in Batman 687 was a nice epilogue to BFTC and it portrayed Grayson in a way that made sense, rather than just having him suddenly appear and go "hey, I get to be Batman now! Yay!" Again, I just wish they'd have released this last week before Batman and Robin #1.

the cover of batman and robin looks alot better with the logo on the top of it. I felt B&R was better than Batman. Batman felt like nothing really happened, especially since we already saw dick as batman. Was there really any need to go back in time to show him changing his mind and deciding to be batman? Wasn't that what the final few pages of Battle for the Cowl were for?

I surprisingly liked Batman's new issue more than I expected and I agree that the logical thing is that the "epilogue" of battle for the cowl would have been released before Batman and Robin, maybe there was a delay of some sorts.

I was going to check Red Robin but didn't have the money at the moment for it so I will try it next week

So far all comics that have featured the new caped crusader have been quite strong (Batman and Robin, Batman, Booster Gold)

While I don't agree with the statement about Quitely's artwork I do agree that Batman #687 was a great book and really moving, I enjoyed more so that B & R #1.

did anyone else hate seeing Tim Drake as Red Robin?  How old is he supposed to be now?  It's like they aged him 5 years during BFTC and when did he get so muscular?

He did suddenly seem to get a little older and bigger. However, Grayson got very huge and ripped in Batman 687. So a lot of that is just artist interpretation, I'm sure. The maturity is a natural progression of the character. He's been through and seen a lot lately. That kind of thing has an affect on a person's character and Red Robin reflected that nicely, IMO.

You know? I strongly believe that the Red Robin story and the take on the character that Yost is trying to give would have fit way better if Jason was the writer, since when did Tim become the black sheep of the batman family?

tell me about it. I have no idea where Red Robin is going to go, and did not see many places for it to go until it brought in Ra's Al Ghul.

I feel with Red Robin they are going to totally revamp Tim's personality.

Well he is supposed to be in a 12 issue run in the search of Bruce Wayne which is badass except for the part in which they never explained in the issue (got it today lol) why Tim does even believe that Bruce is alive, let alone why of all places he would go to search to Spain

he says that he believes bruce is alive bc he has to be. He doesnt have any real resaoning besides denial.

Your right about starting in Spain. THere is nothing that supports that at all.

and in BFTC wasnt it Dick that didnt believe bruce was dead and Tim did?

i didnt like the part whre tim gets upset with dick about being his sidekick. You would think that TIm would be honored. i could see him having a hard time giving up the robin alias but to be considered his equal should make him proud.

it would be cool to see those to be batman and robin tho.

I also like how Alfred comes out and says that Dick will listen to alfred and take what he says in to consideration unlike Bruce. I know it wasnt a big thing but i really liked it none the less

@Dane:

If the batman in barcalona one shot was after R.I.P and battle for the cowl then alfred would know where Bruce is and you woulda thought by Tim drake travelling the globe looking for Bruce in the Red Robin series that he would of found him as he wou;ld know of the secret Bat headquarters around the globe.

@Lantern Goodey:

There is no 'if' - it came out after BTFC. It was either set in the past or in an alternate universe but either way it wasn't a canon story because it had Bruce Wayne in it after his supposed 'death'. I thought that would have been pretty obvious.

i never read this one but you would think that tim and Dick would both know about all the Bat headquarters around the globe.

I think Tim's main problem was the fact Dick let DAMIEN become Robin, because of the fact Damien has murdered and doesn't always abide by Batman's code.
