Plot Summary
It is the year 2039 (one hundred years since Batman was created, wink wink nudge nudge), and technology is so pervasive that nothing is unknown by the government...nothing except for this mysterious "Batman" who has sprung out of seemingly nothingness. Now, a federal agent is dead, and this "Batman" is wanted for the crime. James Gordon (you-know-who's grandson) tries to maintain order in Gotham and find the REAL killer, while the feds are just obsessed with finding this Batman, and why he can exist off the screen.

God, i love Paul Pope's art, it's weird but splendid, he's at the top of my list in the "Best Batman's Artists" Because his portrayal is that of a homemade hero which Batman really fits, anyways, this 4-issue deluxe series (not everyday you get paul pope!) It's absolutely amazing, noir from begginning to end and absolutely mysterious, pope is also a great writer, he's just one of those "magicians" who can pull off action sequences that look really like action sequences and not just "posing" through the panels, it's just like watching a movie. As lots of you may know already, this issue takes place 100 years in the future (Duh!) And Batman has popped up again in this decadent Gotham City we all know and cherish, but now it has this Blade Runner-esque look that merges us with the dystopian nature of the book itself, it kicks off with a fast-paced chasing scene, as we see Batman running through rooftops and jumping as thunderstrikes break through Gotham's sky as the police force is after him, he's just an anomaly in a society that's supposed to be "Under Control" He's looking for something or someone, and he will stop at nothing.
