Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice IMAX Posters Revealed
@ravisher: why not Zoidberg?
@veshark: Photoshop users got better, actually, I think.
Must say it's pretty stupid releasing the trailer and posters the same weekend as Star Wars. http://filmcutting.com/batman-v-superman-imax-posters/
Superman all day
Good. You can take that one. I'll have the Batman one.
Hahaha
@crimson_eagle: I've noticed that too. It's like three Batman symbols in one.
A lot of posters will be released I guess. Good to see they are doing the in your face promotion before a year of the movie release like marvel does
Neither, I refuse to take sides on Heroes vs Heroes
Man, I don't know how this movie is ultimately going to wind up. But, at the very least it seems like they've nailed Batman's comic book look. Batman's cowl and suit look perfect in this poster.
Ben Affleck has the perfect Batman look
Serious and buff, just like Batman is supposed to be.
I don't know if it's because Photoshop users got better or poster-designers got worse, but it seems like superhero movie posters these days all look fanmade O_o.
These don't look fan made. This is solid design. The Convergence alt covers look fan made. Curious, which movie posters do you refer to? Because I was appalled at the age of ultron poster. Just appalled.

Not really. The use of a different color filter for a headshot coupled with that torn-paper effect for their symbols really hits that fanmade note for me. I suppose it comes down to a matter of opinion, but I visit the ComicBookMovie site often, where they frequently feature fanmade posters for upcoming films, and these two really remind me of those.
I think the Age of Ultron poster was...alright. Very clearly photoshopped, but the overall structure of the design (our heroes with the Ultron drones swarming them) made up for it a little. The international redesign of that poster though, with Iron Man in the forefront, was pretty awkward - the contrast difference between Tony and the rest of the team was painfully jarring. As for official movie posters that look fanmade, those that come to mind include these Xavier/Magneto ones for X-Men: First Class, the original Avengers poster which was all over the place, and this Winter Soldier one. That last one especially...I mean I love that film, but the disparate elements of that poster make the whole thing feel like some amateur fan put it together.

Well, I think that Marvel movie posters kind of all look the same. Movie posters all kind of look the same. But iMAx comes out with some good posters during events like their TASM2 poster and Winter Soldier poster. Mondo has great stuff. This is their man of Steel poster:
See? Just fantastic. Art AND design. Kinda like the max stuff. I think these two posters are great. They look like fight night posters.
I don't disagree with you on that point, Marvel's posters have become notoriously homogenous in recent years. Look at this image. Then look at this one. Marvel's Phase 1 posters experimented a little with overall structure and design, but the 'house look' of recent Marvel posters has the same basic concept of hero standing dramatically while evil bad guys swarm around him/her in the background. I guess it might be because Marvel Studios wants an instantly-recognizable and unifying aesthetic for their posters, but still.
Yeah, I've seen that Mondo Man of Steel poster before, it looks fantastic. Nice to see the occasional painted poster instead of a poorly-Photoshoppped one. It reminds me of posters from past decades, where everything was done by a commissioned artist.
Like I said, it ultimately comes down to a matter of opinion. I don't think these IMAX BvS posters are necessarily atrocious, just that the overall style and elements involved really remind me of fanmade posters.
