The most anticipated series of 2010 is here! Superstar writer Grant Morrison tackles his most ambitious project to date with THE RETURN OF BRUCE WAYNE, a special six-part series that chronicles the return of the original man behind Batman's cape and cowl! Each issue spans a different era of time and features the dynamic artwork of one of today's artistic juggernauts, starting with Chris Sprouse (TOM STRONG) on the extra-sized issue #1 and Frazer Irving (SEVEN SOLDIERS: KLARION) on the 40-page issue #2!
Bruce Wayne is stuck in time, and must find away back to his own. In the first issue he will battle cavemen.
An amnesiac Bruce Wayne walks out of the cave where Anthro died (at the very end of Final Crisis) to a tribe of cavemen, led by Vandal Savage. Along with Bruce is the rocket which was sent with items from Batman's old time (Superman's cape, for example). From the rocket, Savage believes that Bruce is a member of what he calls the 'Sky People', who will bring harm to the land and his tribe, and keep a watchful eye over Bruce.
A younger member of the tribe gives Bruce his utility belt back after an attack by the tribe, which he had saved the boy from, and utilises it to fend them off, wearing a bat-like costume. The items from the utility belt are far in advance of anything the tribesmen have, and believe this 'Man of Bats' to be magical, as what appears to be an eclipse turns the sky red. This turns the tribesmen against Vandal Savage.
Meanwhile, Bruce and the young caveman have jumped down a waterfall into the water below, but only the boy surfaces. At that moment, Superm
an, Green Lantern and Booster Gold appear, in the past, via the time sphere, only to confirm that Bruce has indeed left this time zone, as Superman cannot hear his heartbeat. Superman then proceeds to divulge that is Bruce makes it back to the 21st Century, then everyone will die....
We then see Bruce emerge from the water, however in what appears to be a different era, and is immediately threatened by a large, tentacled sea creature......
