The idea of Batman
Our formal reintroduction to Bruce Wayne
The Story: First off, I absolutely LOVED the beginning with the story of the Bat. It was expertly written, and something that could have turned out as little more than a gimmick turned out awesome. It set up a great parallel to Batman and his allies. Now the story itself started off right in the middle of action which I certainly wasn't expecting, but right away it shows us that Bruce Wayne is still as awesome as ever. The rest of the book sets up a new villain, and gives us a peek into the future of Batman's allies. Particularly interesting is what they are going to do with Batgirl. Can't wait to see how that turns out. Now I will be the first to admit entirely sure about Batman INC. It seemed a little out of left field, but the way Bruce describes it is simply brilliant, and sold me on it almost immediately. He says "Starting today we fight ideas with better ideas. The idea of Crime with the idea of Batman". That is just totally awesome. With that all of a sudden Batman Inc.. makes complete sense to me.
The art: Not really much to say about the art that hasn't already been said. David Finch is awesome. His characters are beautiful and detailed, and he really seems in his element when drawing Batman. Although I guess I have to mention the one annoyance I had. In the scene in the Bat-cave everything seems cramped. I mean really the computer, Bat-mobile, giant T-Rex, giant penny, and giant joker card are all within 20 feet of each other? One thing I NEED to mention is the variant cover. It is straight up AMAZING! I didn't even know there was a variant until I was reading the extras in the back, and as soon as I did I went back to my comic shop and bought it.
Overall: A wonderful beginning to the new age of Batman. If you have even the slightest interest in Batman I recommend you pick it up. Who knows, it may even help convince all the haters that Batman INC is not the worst thing to happen to Batman in the history of ever. I give it a 5/5
