Rome Was not Built in a Day

What I love about The Long Halloween is the poetic structure which pays homage to events in a calendar.   This story works well with Batman since he has the best gimmick rogue gallery.  At first I thought that naming this "Roman Holiday" was an easy way just to solve the fact August doesn't really have any official Holidays.  The name Roman Holiday is very symbolic for there are ancient Roman Holidays and there are many Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale could of picked.  I choose to review this issue on August 19, Vinalia Rustica in honour of Venus, commemorating the founding of the oldest known temple to her, on the Esquiline Hill, in 293 BC.  This issue is the Celebration and of the Birth of crime boss Carmine "The Roman" Falcone as well as the duality of Harvey Dent and the now Two-Face.

Most of the Long Halloween stories read quick individually, but as part of the graphic novel, each issue is paced really nicely.  The series climaxes with the birth of Two-Face and what they say is true, Rome was not built in a day.

    Cheers
