The Story Continues
Batman: The Dark Knight's first storyline begins its second-to-last chapter, and this issue was remarkable. The issue was well-written and drawn. This book is a worthy addition to the Batman series. I like the balance David Finch puts into the detective elements with the magic elements in the book. If we recall, Finch wanted a book where Batman investigated about magic. Well, in this book, magic elements, though relevant to the supporting characters, hasn't been an important part in Batman's story. Maybe Finch wants to write Batman as a man of science before the greater magic elements appear.
The art was amazing, and you wouldn't tell the difference beween Jason Fabok and Finch. They are truly masters of drawing.
The supporting characters are also very interesting. Dawn is very interesting, even though she was meant to be a one-time character. I don't know much about Etrigan, but he had an amazing role in this issue. Mira, the girl that stole the Batmobile, was very endearing, but her appearances in the series are very small. I hope Finch gives her agreater role as the storyline closes.
The bad part of this issue is that it leaves several plot elements open: Penguin, Dawn's father, Gordon and Forbes, Lady Blaze. I think that Finch won't be able to give them all closure in the final chapter. So, he either wraps them up quickly or the next issue double-sized.
That's everything I have to say. Good reading!
