    Snared By The White Rabbit

    The Story:

The White Rabbit continues to toy with the Dark Knight. Batman follows a lead that points to Poison Ivy.

    My Thoughts:

Being the huge Batman fan I am, I've been following this series monthly since its inception. While I must admit, the direction this series is taking has eluded me. I've seen no clear distinction on a variety of things from this creative team. Now that doesn't mean it hasn't been good fun so far. With this issue I was hoping to get a better understanding of what the point of all this insanity is and where it's heading. While a number of things still remain unclear, this issue turned out to be quite enjoyable.

The issue started off with Batman fighting the Joker. The whole time this was unfolding my lip was curled at the horrific dialogue. It just didn't seem like the Joker to me. Thankfully something happened (which I won't say) that changed my opinion completely. For a minute I thought David Finch and Paul Jenkins had stumbled but I see they had everything planned out.

One of the most significant moments from this issue that stuck out for me was when my own suspicions were proved false. I had the same suspicions as Batman in thinking this Jaina Hudson was the White Rabbit. Her identity has eluded Batman so far as she continues to play games with him. I admit I like the dialogue between Batman and the White Rabbit. I know

I'm a big fan of David Finch as an artist. Some people for whatever reasons don't seem to be. Personally I enjoy the way he portrays Batman. He may not be the best artist to ever draw him but he does a terrific job doing it. I liked everything about the artwork this issue. Finch drew an awesome Flash and made great use of his abilities. The panel layouts were nice and the detail in them was top notch. I love the cover for this issue too. I like how the pink smoke forms a heart behind the White Rabbit.

This series is getting better and better each issue. When the first issue came out I admit I had my doubts. Paul Jenkins and David Finch are slowly creating an enticing series that's a lot of fun to read. I'd recommend this issue.

This issue is a little bit all over the place but in the end is fairly well held together.  It deals with Batman's ongoing attempt to find the source of the fearlessness among the supervillains of Gotham.  There were some high points and low points here.  For high the handling of the Joker and the ensuing fight was clever enough, and even though it is a common enough plot device in Bat titles, it still worked well here.  The hunt for the source of the toxin was also good.  As for the not so good...

OK, maybe this is going somewhere 0

This issue picks up where the last one left off. Overall, of the four Batman series, I'm really enjoying this one the least, but I liked this issue a bit more than the other two. Maybe it's because he does a little bit more detective work. What I don't like is that the main villainess is either extremely obvious or a really strangely done misdirection. I do wonder if my general dislike for her is being sown by CV podcast's distaste for the White Rabbit and the fact that she's meant to be a chees...
