    Synopsis

As the Arkham escapees (under the influence of the mysterious toxin from last issue) run rampage across Gotham, Batman is getting closer to finding the source of this super narcotic!

    The Good

Whilst the first issue was yet to find it's ground, I think this series is now starting to develop in it's own way separate from the rest of the Batbooks. Now we have the enigmatic White Rabbit turning up again and the gradual unravelling of what is poisoning Arkham's ex-residents to drive this opening arc of the series forward. Names and theories are chucked about but the mystery continues.

There are a couple of great conversations, one between Commissioner Gordon and Batman, and then Alfred again with the Caped Crusader. There's this great line where Gordon admits the Bat is his only real friend, but as he turns around to say it to where he was once standing. Great little bit of humour there. :)

I did enjoy the several scenes featuring Two-Face, from the opening to the latter stage after he has been defeated by Batman (might of been influenced somewhat by my liking for the cover!).

There are some cameos from the rest of the Bat Family (and the Birds of Prey) as they each fend off low level villains (albeit drugged and pumped up to the max!). In particular, I adored the Ventriloquist scene with the policeman-puppet. Nightwing and Robin even joke that the hulk they are fighting is nothing like the weak and timid man they know. :p

The cliffhanger was pretty sweet too, slightly predictable but making my ask myself "where will this go next? I want to know!" .

    The Bad

I'm pretty sure people are going to take offence to White Rabbit's skimpy costume, but this series doesn't seem to be taking itself too seriously anyway (super-steroid villains, bleeding out of the eyes etc, Clock King being a threat etc.) :p

    Conclusion

I will admit I like this series so far. It's a bit different from the other Batman titles in that it's a bit silly and unrealistic - but I dig that! :)

Batman's dark/supernatural book starts down the rabbit hole 0

As the crowded list of characters on this issue's wiki page suggests, The Dark Knight #2 has its share of cameos. The New 52 initiative was supposed to draw in new readers, but they will miss a lot here. For instance, they'll miss the significance of the (usually nervous) Ventriloquist hurling Robin and Nightwing through a store window, even if it is explained in some expository dialogue towards the end.New readers won't be completely lost, though. After being introduced to Batman's relationship...

Extract their blood on a regular basis 0

After last issue's lead-in to a defeated Batman, things do not get better for him here, at least not immediately, but as he eventually escapes from Two-Face he discovers that there is more at play here than he had originally assumed.  Still it is not so much the action here which makes this a strong issue (though the action is good) rather it is the characterizations.  The brief interlude of various Gotham crimefighters felt perfectly in place, but more so it was the short discussion between Bat...
