Batman's dark/supernatural book starts down the rabbit hole 0

As the crowded list of characters on this issue's wiki page suggests, The Dark Knight #2 has its share of cameos. The New 52 initiative was supposed to draw in new readers, but they will miss a lot here. For instance, they'll miss the significance of the (usually nervous) Ventriloquist hurling Robin and Nightwing through a store window, even if it is explained in some expository dialogue towards the end.New readers won't be completely lost, though. After being introduced to Batman's relationship...

The Dark Knight Strikes Again 0

Last year David Finch's Batman Dark Knight attempted to pit the caped crusader against supernatural forces lurking in a grim and gritty Gotham City. The first volume suffered from several publishing delays, to the point that the initial story arc was never concluded. With DC's New 52, Finch has been given a second chance to draw the title, aided by writer and now Dark Knight co-plotter Paul Jenkins. We last left the Dark Knight in the middle of yet another Arkham breakout, and this issue begins w...

    An Improvement 2

Last issue was WAY to derivative of Snyder's book. With this issue Jenkins has gone off to blaze his own trails. I'm actually intrigued by this story even if the premise seems a tad overused - bad guys juicing up on something that's also bad for them. With the last issue I was ready to give up on The Dark Knight. With this issue I'm willing to give it to the end of the arc.It is kinda silly that the rabbit is there - since she's supposed to make fun of cheesecake - but there's actually a story r...

Still waiting for the magic... 0

While the Mystery of the white Rabbit is interesting I'm rather disappointed with this title in general. The title is supposed to be about the mystic side of Batman's adventures and so far this hasn't been the case with this second arc. There are several problems with this book.#1. The page 1 inner monologue is out of character and dumb. It's only used for a call back from a different character that is out of his mind.#2. James Gordon acts out of character.#3. the Batmobile looks ugly >.> I...

Catch Me If You Can 0

The Story: The criminals from Arkham Asylum are running lose throughout Gotham. It's up to Batman and the rest of the Bat Family to round them up before things get out of hand. My Thoughts:Out of the four Batman series from the new 52, I think this one has received the most negative criticism. I will admit I was on the edge about how this series would turn out after the end of the first issue. David Finch and Paul Jenkins manage to kill any doubts I had with this second issue. Now I won't go so ...

Extract their blood on a regular basis 0

After last issue's lead-in to a defeated Batman, things do not get better for him here, at least not immediately, but as he eventually escapes from Two-Face he discovers that there is more at play here than he had originally assumed.  Still it is not so much the action here which makes this a strong issue (though the action is good) rather it is the characterizations.  The brief interlude of various Gotham crimefighters felt perfectly in place, but more so it was the short discussion between Bat...

Still the worst of the bunch 0

Finch and Jenkins take two with relatively little change in A Rush of Blood. The Good: Once again, the main allure of the title is the artwork by Finch. As always, his style is very clear, detailed, and essentially traditional. Personally, I've always preferred the more stylized versions like Tim Sale, Dustin Nguyen, Jock and so on so I admit I'm biased. I'm not going to buy this for the art (like I would the current run of Batwoman for example) but its hard to fault Finch for a generally good sh...

Feels Kinda Like Arkham Asylum 0

There are tons of Batman books coming out monthly. What makes the David Finch and Jenkins The Dark Knight worth you 2.99?  THE GOOD: That art is really good. I like David Finch's art work so that's not really surprising. The story is okay. we get to see that there is something going around in Arkham Asylum that makes people stronger then normal. I really like seeing all of the other Bat-Family people in here. It gives you a feeling of unity. The story itself is easy to follow and for the most pa...

"Wait Till They Get A Load Of Me" 0

Synopsis   As the Arkham escapees (under the influence of the mysterious toxin from last issue) run rampage across Gotham, Batman is getting closer to finding the source of this super narcotic! The Good   Whilst the first issue was yet to find it's ground, I think this series is now starting to develop in it's own way separate from the rest of the Batbooks. Now we have the enigmatic White Rabbit turning up again and the gradual unravelling of what is poisoning Arkham's ex-residents to drive this ...

Why Couldn't Streets of Gotham Have Been Relaunched? 0

The Good: Finch's artwork is still pretty awesome.  Ok, admittedly it does fix up my complaint about Two-Face from the last issue. I LOVED the scene where we see crime fighters from around Gotham dealing with this same mess. Overall, aside from Batman, the characters are all quite well written. Maybe Jenkins would be better suited to writing a Streets of Gotham or Gotham Central style book. Though its his characterization of Alfred that shone the brightest. The Bad: The cover starts out pretty '...

Good in a weird way 0

Before I start, I have to admit I haven't read that much Batman recently. So, in this issue, I'm kind of confused with some of the stuff. The CoverTo be honest, I didn't really get this issue because of the cover. Usually I sort of judge a book by the cover, but this time I didn't really like the cover. When I want to buy a Batman comic, I usually dont get one with a muscular Two-Face beating the crap out of Batman. I have to say, though, the art and details were good on this cover. Recently, com...
