First contact Pt.3 of 4! "We've been over there before, haven't we?"

First contact continues! With writer Greg Pak and artist Jae Lee.

    The Good

In this issue, both sides (Batman and Power Girl and Superman and Huntress) finally join back together after briefly separating in the last two issues. We see our heroes battling to keep the two Kryptonians, Superman and Power Girl, under control and not facing a power influx as well as keeping a villain from opening up a portal to Earth 2 (Power Girl and Huntress' world). The heroes face more trust issues and conflicting thoughts without the entire issue!

Greg Pak did a pretty good job with this issue's story. He made a good transition to connect both the Batman and Superman sides of the story; and making them connect as a whole at the end of this issue. It's really impressive when a writer can combine his half of the story, and another writer's half of the story, and make them one conclusive story without it feeling like "meh." Pak continues to build on the fact that Batman and Superman have trust issues; especially when it comes to Power Girl and Huntress from a totally different Earth. This has really strong connections for when Batman and Superman had to face their counterparts in an early story arc of this series; and how much more powerful and skilled they were when they faced. It's really cool how Greg Pak pulls this off and how they are questioning if it really happened and if they could've saved Earth 2 when they had the chance. The conflict within Superman and Batman; and their own personal take on it, is what makes this a very good issue.

Jae Lee's artwork; what perfection looks like! That is all.

This was a great issue, however the beginning was a bit slow. The first couple of pages were catching up the readers that didn't read the past two issues (Words' Finest #20 and Batman/Superman #8) and it dragged on for a little while. If Greg Pak focused mainly on the story at hand; it'd been a better experience. However, that's not how things went down. Also, it's great to see Huntress and Power Girl do the same thing with, their own thoughts on the events, but sometimes more should be less; and I could've personally done with less of their thought input in this series as it felt too crowded (especially with Batman and Superman doing it almost constantly).

    The Verdict

4 out of 5, check out this series!

While Batman and Power Girls go find the source of the nanites interference Superman and Huntress go undercover towards the same objective, but the ultimate threat is something none o them imagine. As alwas, astonishing art by Jae Lee, a must read for any Batman/Superman fan....
