An interesting story that takes away the memories of Batman and Superman!

[Click] for the last review I did from this series, it was for the "Doomed" story arc tie-in; Batman/Superman #11. Now, in this issue Batman and Superman are being toyed around with by a new enemy, Satanus!

    The Good

No memories, what all will happen? Artist Jae Lee helps set the tone with his artwork!

I'm not going to lie. I only enjoy this series when writer Greg Pak and artist Jae Lee work together. They created this series together and established everything in this series; from the tone to how Batman and Superman are portrayed in this series. So when Jae Lee isn't artist, I feel like a hole is left in this series and it only gives 50% of a good story, instead of a full 100%. So I think from this point onward, I'll only review/read issues done by writer Greg Pak and artist Jae Lee. (Solely because they know what they are doing with this series and have established what to expect.) So to summarize real quick, Jae Lee's artwork is incredibly unique and really helps Greg Pak establish a tone of mystery and "OH! What's going to happen next!?"

What I really enjoyed about this issue was just the entire process of seeing Batman and Superman deal with not knowing who, or what, they are. (And how only a select few actually know who they are. i.e. Alfred knows about Batman and Lois knows about Superman.) This opens so many doors and raises so many questions, as to see how far writer Greg Pak is willing to go with this Eye of Satanusstory arc. Pak obviously wanted to make this issue feel like the reader was just as baffled as Batman/Superman, so there is plenty of mystery in this issue. It was explained in the last issue (mentioned in this issue) that Batman and Superman's memories were collected by a villain from Apokolips, but other than that, the reader is completely immersed in a world where very few know whoexactly the heroes are and just seeing how Batman/Superman deal with finding out who they are bit-by-bit! I'm really interested in seeing what Pak will do this story arc, and how he'll continue to test Batman/Superman's friendship as their memories keep getting played around with, and misused by others!

    The Bad

    No complaints!

    The Verdict

In the end, this issue is a "5 out of 5" for story and artwork. The creative team behind this issue really know how to create some trippy, or thought provoking, issues for this series -- all thanks to the story by writer Greg Pak and art style of Jae Lee. Pak and Lee are really the only ones that should be writing and drawing this series, solely because they create a tone that fully immerses you in the story that is being told. This issue's story is a great example of that! The reader isn't entirely sure what is going on (and has lots of questions) but thanks to how Pak's amazing storytelling abilities and Lee's art abilities, it tells a full immersive story that has a perfect beginning, middle, and end. This was a perfect issue and I can't wait for the next team from this creative team!

I'm on Twitter, @Lol_Clark; you can follow, complain or compliment me there. (As well as on this website if you want.) I recently did reviews for the following movies (which I recommend you should check out) Batman: Assault on Arkham, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles [2014] Movie, and my movie review for Godzilla [2014]. and TTG! episode, "Money Grandma!". If you like it, tell me about it, if you hate it TELL ME ABOUT IT! That is all. Until next time my friends!
