BatWatch Review: Li'l Gotham #10
Cinco De Madness
It's time once more for Li'l Gotham, and this time, we are celebrating Cinco de Mayo with Damian, Bane and tacos. I'm up for it. Li'l Gotham has laid a few eggs (like Easter's issue for instance) but even at the worst of times, it has been cute, and some of the issues have been mind blowingly adorable.
Does Li'l Gotham #10 prove to be a party we can all enjoy or is this issue about as fun as a massive hangover?
In this issue, the young members of the Bat clan try to shut down Bane's operation while the elders spend some time having fun.
Oh, How I Miss the DCU
I suppose I will eventually tire of bemoaning the loss of the DCNU, but for the moment, I'm still feeling it pretty strongly, and that's part of what makes Li'l Gotham so great. It is not really set in any universe, but it certainly feels closer to the pre-Flashpoint universe than the current. We actually see all the members of the Bat Family acting in appropriate ways (if their various idiosyncricies were heightened) and we see things as they ought to be. For instance, we get to see Babs and Dick go on a proper date. Heck, it might be nicer than the old universe because Jason is a part of the family as well.
If you've read any of the previous issues of Li'l Gotham, then you know what to expect. Just know that this is a good issue.
Bat Droppings
1. There is the inclusion of a character I do not know that ComicVine identified as Abuse. The name matched, but the description of the character did not sound remotely similar. Putting this random guy in the story threw off the vibe briefly, but once I decided to just roll with it, it didn't bug me.
Conclusion 9/10
If you enjoyed Li'l Gotham in the past, you'll enjoy this issue.
