Good comic that flashes back on history of Batman
I liked this but then again I liked he last issue of Batman Inc, the art is awesome much better in my opinion on most Batman books as Batman and every other character is consistent from frame to frame where as say Detective, Batman and The Dark knight comics all fall short on being consistent in the art department. It's been my pet peeve for a few issues now that Batman, Detective and The Dark Knight comics art is not up to standard for me. But here is no issue in that department.
Ok as for story it's a filler issue yes, I'm a little peeved that it is due to the cliff hanger ending of Issue one. But this issue does show ALOT of flash backs even some that has happened in batman comics that happened in the span of the last 20 years of batman issues. Even from the iconic sword battle with Batman and Ra's when they first encountered each other. (It's so iconic it was in Batman TAS) and it also shows how Damian was conceived with Talia drugging Batman and even a scene that happened in Batman and Son with the submarine blowing up and Talia asking Damian to choose between her and Bruce. So it was all nice to tie all that in and know what is cannon to the reboot of the new 52. BUTTTTTT......This also makes things all the more confusing with DC comics the editors MUST be aware that timeline wise this makes no sense and it still bugs the hell out of me. Bruce has been Batman for 5 years 6 including the here and now. How can Damian be 10? He would be between 4 to 6 years of age at this point in time unless Bruce has been Batman for 10 years before Superman first debuted as the first Super hero.
Otherwise this is a good read which brings up that what is cannon to Batman etc in the reboot but PLEASE DC sort this timeline out, it's driving me crazy. How can heroes of DC only span 5 years 6 tops as this year yet Batman's history spans 10 at least. I mean Bruce was Batman before Damian was born according to the cannon of this story and Bruce has only been Batman for 6 years so how can Damian be 10 years of age? it doesn't add up.
Anyway 3.5 out of 5 art is awesome, story is good but it loses points on timeline that makes no sense and also it loses points on the second issue being a filler issue when it left the first issue on such a big cliff hanger.
