Batman and Robin will Never Die!

The end is finally here. Grant Morrison's Batman saga is over. I couldnt be more sad to see it go. Morrison's Batman and Robin Volume 1 is what got me into buying comics on a weekly basis and that series is my favorite of all time. The end had to come sometime but was it a satisfying conclusion? Well the 5 bright yellow stars point to YES

    The Good

FINALLY an issue of Chris Burnham without any fill in art! The fill in art has been a problem for the latter half of this volume of Incorporated but thankfully that isnt an issue here. Burnham's art is very nice and detailed and the title page is just beautiful. The cover is also VERY cool and I have to give a special mention to the variant cover. How cool is it to see Morrison's art! People tend to forget he can draw pretty well.

Seeing Bruce Wayne all scarred and stitched up is very effective and seeing exactly how he got those injuries later on in the issue is very cool. The story has some great nods to the nature of comics and it feels very fitting way to end this huge Batman saga. Even at the end of things Morrison finds a way to set up future stories. I'll be VERY interested to see who picks up and runs with these story threads.

    The Bad

While I think Chris Burnhams art is great it certainly isnt for anyone. In fact it took me quite a while to finally warm up to it. The reference to Zero Year also felt strange. The kiss between Batman and Talia was very weird and this is a personal thing but Damian didn't come back to life :(

    The BEST

Damian may be coming back to life!!!!

    Verdict

I cant believe its all over. I'm very happy that Morrison went out on a high note though. Honestly I would've given this issue something like a 4.5 but since we cant do 1/2 stars apparently I'm rounding up to a 5. All good things have to come to an end. Writers come and go universes end and are rebooted but as a great man once wrote BATMAN AND ROBIN WILL NEVER DIE!

This has been one of my favourite series as of late, with Grant Morrison's Batman run being the best that I've read, and with this being the last issue I will be sad to see it end, and I will miss his amazing Batman stories (hopefully he may return some day).PlotBatman and Talia al Ghul finally square of against each other, with the fate of Gotham City in the balance.ReviewThis was an amazing issue, and it was a terrific way to end the series. This may not have been quite how I expected the seri...
