An introduction to Hush, through a c-list [unknown] Batman villain.

Batman faces off against, The Architect!

Took the words right out of my mouth.

The artwork by Jorge Lucas was nice. His art style takes some getting used to, with the heavy inks and dark colors, but ultimately you'll enjoy Lucas' art and how he helps conveys the story to the readers. The cover by Jay Fabok and Brad Anderson is nothing to be impressed with as it does the simple, and pretty mediocre, job at conveying what this issue is about: Batman kicking Architect in the face, for no apparent reason. That pretty much sums up this entire issue.

After the events of last issue, HUSH MAKES HIS DEBUT! But, as Hush made his big debut in the last issue, and attacked Alfred, he's got to have another reveal that puts Batman on his trail. (Sigh.) The writers of this issue's story did a mediocre job with this issue's story by introducing, The Architect. Architect is a villain that destroys buildings, but is crazy for cocoa puffs insane and mysterious. (Mysterious in a bad way. He only talks in riddles.) His only purpose in this issue is to introduce Hush and it does not make sense on how Batman put 2 and 3 together and got 4. "The building speaks to you.... [saying] shhhh.", says The Architect to Batman. How did Batman deduce that Hush was behind this attack and also critically wounded Alfred? It is not explained by the writers, and that is the problem with this issue. It doesn't explain anything at all, it just throws all this useless information at the reader (i.e. The Architect and him attacking a Wayne building, ultimately re-introducing Hush to Batman.) and just assumes that the reader won't want any details and will only want to see Hush and Batman fight it out in a future issue. This method is becoming tiresome to see in this series.

In conclusion, this Batman: Eternal issue is one to pass up on as it is completely useless to the reader. I would assume that the next issue is much better than this one, and you can pick that one up. However, I am not sure. 2 out of 5.
