Batman Arkahm City #1
It has been a year since The Joker overtook Arkham Asylum and released all of the inmates to run rampant in dark heart of the Asylum. Some of Batman's most powerful enemies had gained control over certain areas of the Asylum, only thanks to the Joker. Having plans to have an army of Banes, Joker created the perfect serum called project Titan. Titan made horrible monsters out of men, and gave them the strength of Bane without the need for more Venom input. Batman had to save Arkham Asylum from itself, and also the staff who worked there. In the end, Joker was locked up in the Asylum he once controlled, but he is sick and will probably die -- But the Joker always has a plan! Written by Paul Dini with artwork by Carlos D'Anda.
The Good
Having played Batman Arkham Asylum (good game that I recommend), we all know that Batman Arkham City is going to win twice as many awards as it's predecessor did. With this comic, we get to see what Batman does to try and keep Gotham safe from the new 'Arkham City' that will be built in old parts of Gotham. The writer of the game, Paul Dini, who is writing the script for Batman Arkham City also and also this comic, is the best choice for this six issue mini-series. Having had great experience with Batman comics, Paul has created a awesome first issue of Batman Arkham City. While I am anxious to see what happens in the video game that is set to release this fall, this comic will have to do. Paul Dini portrays Batman in this comic to be the Dark Knight that is trying to prevent a major disaster from occurring in his city. While Mayor Sharp is trying to only get publicity as a Mayor in Gotham, he is neglecting the fact that Gotham already has a savior, or hero (to put it better). I can see that in future issues, Batman will have problems with finding out the identity of Hugo Strange being connected with the side of good and evil, but for his own personal needs.Carlos D'Anda's artwork on this series is amazing. He worked on the character designs for the first and second game, and I don't know how much comic book history he has, but his artwork makes Batman Arkham City's comic different from other comics based on video games. Not many artist can pull this off, but Carlos certainly can.
