Robin is dead, but not for long! (Pt.2): The reason why you don't get on Batman's bad side.

Before you continue, you should check out Part 1 of this review. Especially if you need a reason to check this series out! But if you already are reading this series, enjoy the review! Batman is going to Apokolips to bring his son back, but the Justice League might have something to say about that first.

    The Good

    Batman being Batman.
    Batman being Batman.

HOLY CRAP BATMAN! I thought this series couldn't get any better, but it just did, like 1,000 times better! Writer Peter J. Tomasi really outdid himself with this issue's story, and I can't wait to see what he'll do in the next issue! Ok. Now that I've cleared up how awesome this issue is, I'll tell you what the story is about. In this issue, The Justice League don't think that Batman facing off against Darkseid and all of Apokolips is healthy for him, the League, and the entire planet. However, ignoring what his teammates have to say (because he's Batman by the way, he does what he wants), Batman cooks up a plan to travel to Apokolips and bring his son back. (Alive I might add.) To summarize even shorter, don't think you know what's best, especially when arguing with Batman, you are more likely to get your teeth knocked in!

    Nananananananana, BATMAN!
    Nananananananana, BATMAN!

Did I mention how much I love Peter J. Tomasi's story? Really? I did. Weird, I don't remember. Anyway, Tomasi totally killed it with this issue! Batman vs. the entire Justice League is, let's say, crazy. However, we're talking about Batman, so whatever he says is right, that's what you do. (No questions asked!) I enjoyed how Peter J. Tomasi handled Batman and the League. Batman was trying to explain, logically, why he [and the League] should fly up to Apokolips to not only stop Darkseid, but to also save Batman's son. However, Tomasi does the clever thing, and has the Justice League actually think theyknow what's best for Batman, The League, and planet Earth. (*HAHAHAHAHA!*) That is when things get interesting. I like the way Tomasi handles Batman snapping. It's an art that, to me at least, only Tomasi has mastered. Every time Batman snaps, he doesn't snap 100%, he snaps 1000%. Because Peter J. Tomasi builds on the tension, stress, and pressure that is on Batman and the situation he's in; so seeing Batman cut loose and take on the Justice League very briefly is, not only justified, but like experiencing Christmas everyday. Tomasi knows how to push Batman over-the-edge, where the fans are just going to sit back and grin the entire time watching it all happen.

    An understanding.
    An understanding.

Also, I like how Tomasi, at the end of this issue, handled both Batman and The Justice League. Batman could've fought off the entire League, but instead, he plays it smart and tricks them that he "Tired." So seeing Batman go back to his estate, and eventually talking to Superman, was a really moving moment. It cooled down the fire that Tomasi started, but not entirely extinguishing it. I liked seeing the backhanded humor between Superman and Bruce, and how Superman sympathizes with what Bruce is going through (with having to lose his son.) However, it's even better to see that Batman is stillgoing to Apokolips, but he's going with his team, or better yet, hisfamily. So I'm excited to see where Peter J. Tomasi is taking this series!

    Art team, for the win!
    Art team, for the win!

Finally, let's not forget the art team's hand in all this. Patrick Gleason (penciler), Mick Gray (inker), and John Kalisz (colorist) made this issue, the BEST issue of the Batman & Robin series. Everything about the artwork is perfect, style, inks, colors, EVERYTHING. They really immerse you in Tomasi's story and help you get hooked into it, especially in the most intense moments!

    The Bad

Have you read this issue? Or are you just high? There's nothing wrong with this issue!

    The Verdict

5 out of 5.Do yourself a favor and get this issue, and the last issue, and the issue before that! You'll love it, I'm sure. (Onwards and upwards!) I'm on Twitter, @Lol_Clark. (Plus, check out my movie review for Batman: Assault on Arkham.) NEXT REVIEW!

Hellbat Armor and Caped Bromances 0

That's all I can say about this issue. The Hellbat Armor looks bloody amazing and the fact that all the League members took part in making that armor not only shows how much the League cares about Batman. In the last pages of the issue Superman shows up at Damian's and Talia's graves to visit Bruce to have a heart to heart. At that moment you can see that Clark and Bruce truly are greatest of friends. The way this arc is being set up gets me excited to see what lays ahead....
