    Less Dick, More Jason! 16

DC calls on Judd Winick to bring Jason Todd center stage in the newest issue of Batman and Robin #23.The GoodRule of thumb: if you want to give your audience a solid Jason Todd story, call upon the man who writes the character better than anyone, Judd Winick. First, I want to thank DC Comics for giving me another Jason Todd story. Second, I want to thank DC Comics for getting Judd Winick to write it. Winick knows the former 'Boy Wonder' turned hard-lined murderous criminal better than a...

Judd Winick writing Jason Todd? SOLD! 3

I love a good Jason Todd story. And you know who tells the best Jason Todd stories? If you guessed Judd Winick, congratulations, look who won the pony! This is a bit of a slow moving issue, but that's good. It shows that Jason has a plan, and that it's a great one. He's literally still a violent, murderous vigilante even when he's in the joint. The entire thing starts out entertaining with the dialogue between Jason and Bruce, then just gets a little bit chilling when you see the aftermath of Ja...

    Batman's Red-Headed Middle Child 16

Judd Winick comes in as the next in what has become an ever-changing creative team for Batman and Robin, and he comes in with a new Jason Todd story picking up where Grant Morrison left the character off.Jason Todd's recent history with DC is an interesting case and has led to many people declaring that Winick is the only writer who can truly write the character. It seems like an extreme statement at face value, but it's not really about exaggerating Winick's skills as a writer. It is more of a ...

There was a dinosaur smoking a cigar. This is going to be good. 0

Batman and Robin #23.   The Story: Jason gets transfered from Arkham to another prison where he kills a bunch of prisonners and when he gets transferred back to Arkham he gets saved by a group of people that look like animals.   The Good: YAY Winick is writing Jason Todd and it's advancing the character. We begin with a really good one sided conversation with Jason and Bruce about how they both came back from the dead but in typical Bruce fashion he gets to the point as to why he wants to keep hi...

    Painting the Jail Red 0

The Good: The issue opens up strongly, giving the briefest of brief histories of Jason Todd through flashbacks of meaningful dialogue set as narration over scenes of him in action as Robin. Flash forward to the man he is today. The window into what could have been crashes down to the tragic figure we have now. And yet, not so tragic. Jason isn't downtrodden or weighed down by agony or regret. He knows what he wants out of life and he's getting it. This is followed by a scene of Jason talking his...

Jason Todd, broken out of jail by the Thunder Cats???? 1

Batman and Robin #23 I was highly anticipating this issue because I really wanted to start reading Jason Todd stuff so this would be perfect to read! I read the early issues to this series with him in it and they were great so I'm happy he's back in this series! Okay so this whole issue mainly focuses on Jason Todd in jail. Todd is going to be transfered to a lower security prison. This is the first time Todd's seen Bruce since he "died". So Todd is now in Gotham correctional facility and things...

The Red Hood Runs With Blood 1

Before I even start to setup this issue and review it, I think this is one of my favorite comic book covers in the past two years. The work that Guillem March has done needs to be recognized and commended. This is one of those covers that I'd love to have as a poster in my house. The use of the bright golden background paired with The Red Hood, Batman, and Robin just pops in that way that only comic books can. That being said, lets get on to the review! When notorious vigilante/murderer Jason Todd...

    Another Good Arc Intro 0

And, I should mention, another cover that lies.  (Been seeing a lot of those on the 2011 FF book)  Anyway, I'm not sure how much of this sticks with the DCU Reboot/Refresh, but it looks like most of the current continuity does.  (With changes like Barb being out of a wheelchair)  But this arc definitely has time to end before September.  It is low on action at first, but I think it sets up the characters' motivations and actions quite well.  As someone who knows the story of The Red Hood, but ne...
