Pure Insanity, That's All I Can Say 2

The Good: Frazer Irving's artwork is just so deliciously bizarre, you can't help but love it. It suits the style of the arc so incredibly well. The best part of both issue's 13 and 14 was easily the beginning. The insane absolutely perfect montage of Dr. Hurt in #13, and the Joker turning the tables on Damien in #14 were truly awe inspiring scenes. The craziness is so well represented by the art, the twisted figure of The Joker as Damien goes insane and the crazy colors, its all so psychotic. "I...

So the Joker, A Pyg, and a Doctor Hurt walks into a bar... 3

There was a bad side to having too many Batman titles and finding this issue was the reason. Hidden behind a stack of other Batman related titles I would find myself overlooking this beautiful third part of a beautiful Batman Masterpiece. As if I thought Batman badguys couldn't get any more......disturbing. This issue would prove me wrong in such a way that I personally couldn't give this comic less than five stars. There was a phrase that went around saying that all of the DC characters look li...

    The Triumph of Death 0

Another good Grant Morrison book? Hard to believe, right? Well, believe it or not, this is another great book written by Morrison. His writing is as good as ever, and I think he rights these characters the best out of any current Batman writers. The plot of this issue was good, but a little slower than I would have liked, especially since this is the first Batman & Robin issue to come out since July. This issue picks up hours after the events of issue #13 and has some cool scenes and plot de...

There's no end to the madness 0

Dr. Hurt contiunes his chaos in Gotham, Joker enters the fray, and Batman is caught in the middle of both of them.Pros:   Its hard to tell whats going on inside the head of Grant Morrison. His writing is what make Batman and Robin so interesting to read especially with this arc. In the second part of "Batman Must Die!", Morrison continues to create mayhem in Gotham City and bringing in another disturbing character such as Pyg. Pyg himself is a insane character, but not as insane as Joker.  Its b...

Batman & Robin #14: How Evil Is Winning 1

Here is the belated review for Batman and Robin issue 14 with the story arc titled, Batman and Robin must die! "I'm Not Mad At All." - Joker. Grant Morrison and Frazer Irving are one issue away from seeing if Dick Grayson really gets killed by Doctor Hurt! From the events of issue 13 (which was also reviewed), Dick Grayson and Damian Wayne are being terrorized by Doctor Hurt and (once again) the circus of crime. Doctor Hurt claims that he is Thomas Wayne (the father of Bruce Wayne), however, eve...

    Modern Masterpiece 0

I used to loathe Frazer Irving's art, but good Lord it has grown on me tremendously. In the last issue he did some of the creepiest work I've seen in comics, and most definitely in the superhero genre. I can't wait until this is collected, but then again that's my feeling after reading most Grant Morrison work. His writing flows with many layers of complexity and is best read as a single cohesive work. The plot is still suitably Grant-ian and cryptic, and I can see why many are put off by him. I...
