Crowbars are cool
Here is the thing: Morrison is pretty crazy and that craziness affects all of his works. His surreal style of storytelling is divinely combines with the best qualities of his current artist, whoever it is. Before this exact moment, the best fit for Grant's hallucinations was an outstanding Frank Quitely. We3, New X-Men, All Star Superman, the first volume of Batman and Robin - all of this is a perfect example of a perfect writer/penciler collaboration. But it was BEFORE this moment.
Frazer Irving, an artist and inker, and colorist in one person, steps this month on a critically acclaimed series with all of his mind-blowing stuff. Seriously, that's one of the finest artworks I have ever seen in my life. A little static, yes, BUT so friggin' creepy when it is needed. Just look at the Joker's interrogation scene! Ooooh, those faces!!
And Grant is still keeping his bar high. This sick Scottish bastard continues his experiments and literally climb up his finger into your brain and begins to methodically dig there. 'I was a little boy wonder too' phrase was sooo full of that crappy feeling that 'Oh wait, it's really not what it seems!'. Is that some sort of a weird hint who *SPOILERS* the Joker really is? Is he Jason Todd? Or is he (the most absurd version and that's why it could be the truth) Dick Grayson? And when you start to think about it you understand how genius this comic book is.
Now it feels like the past 12 issues were just a respite before THIS. Of course it's 5 out of 5.
