    Meet The New Boss... 0

Because I hadn't read Batman, R.I.P. or Battle for the Cowl, I really didn't think I'd see myself picking this up. But, I remembered that I really hate it when somebody calls in on the request line and asks for "Convoy" or "Angels Flying Too Close To The Ground". The worst is when somebody calls for "You Don't Have To Call Me Darlin'" or "The Ride". Don't these people know that time has moved on since Johnny Cash, Waylon and Willie, Merle, David Allan Coe and C. W. McCall were big? It's not 1979...

    Pleasantly surprised 3

When I saw the previews on Comicvine I wasn't too excited. I thought the art work would be sub par. I gave in and decided to give it a try. I found it befitting that DC brought back Morrison to kick this series off since RIP. I enjoyed the banter between the duo because it provides a fresh prospective. The story itself was nothing ground breaking but it seemed to set the tone. As the issue progressed the art work kinda grew on me. It'sAll in all a decent issue....

Funny how the best place in the world can be anywhere 0

I love Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely. I mere mention that they might be working on a new project together has keep me excited for months and on Wednesday when I picked this issue up I dove right in. Part of liking Grant Morrison is knowing that he isn't for everyone. After Batman R.I.P. and Final Crisis I think Mr. Morrison was under a great deal of pressure to take Batman in a new direction. This book does that about as well as I think is possible. Morrison does a good job of demenstating ho...

Enjoyable read but nothing spectacular. 0

This read a bit quick for me and quick for a Grant Morrison book. It’s basically a set up issue, which is fine as it’s a number 1. I like the little brat Damian as Robin; he is going to be the most entertaining character in this book. The new character Pyg was a cool edition, he is really quite evil. As for the art, it’s not really my cup of tea. Nothing wrong with it I just find Quitely’s art a bit spongy and bubbly which is not my bag. And the book was very colourful. I normally like Batman dr...

    Ribbit! 0

Finally! I review a monthly comic before it becomes a paperback! So the new Dynamic Duo has appeared after the months passed after Bruce Wayne's fake death. Plus, they got a flying Batmobile! Who needs a Batplane when you got that?Anyway, I was interested in reading this because of the premise, and I'm neutral with Morrison. The last thing I read by him was Batman R.I.P, and while I didn't hate it, I didn't like all of it enough to prevent me from getting my money back. (Some parts in the middle ...

The Start of a new chapter for the Batman 0

Let me just begin by letting you know that my review may seem a bit too positive, partly due to the fact that i am a very big fan of both Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely. If you have been following the recent news about the caped crusader, you will most likely know that this story is set right after the hit or miss "Battle for the Cowl"; as well as the well received "What ever happened to the Caped Crusader". To simply cut to the point, Batman and Robin was able to get me wanting more after i f...

    The dynamic duo !!!!!! 0

well wot can i say i love grant morrison and frank quitely!!!!!this comic has become one of my favourite so far!!!!!!! grant morrison creates a very good introduction of the the characters. Dick grayson is becoming one of my favourite batman related characters and for some strange reason damian is becoming one of my favourite characters as well even though he is not very popular with lots of people right at the moment... so i gave it a 5 out of 5, just to add to that the art is looksing good too...

    Wonderfully quirky 0

Hearkening back to Batman's lavish technicolor yesteryear, the creative dynamic duo of Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely serve fans a new ongoing series full of quirky camp, retro psychedelia, and some very creepy and very edgy new villains. And no one can write Damian Wayne's caustic, know-it-all dialogue like Morrison.   Though, a short read, you'll find yourself paging back through this issue many times over just to absorb all of Quitely's fantastic nuanced pop art. It's a must have for any co...

TOGETHER AGAIN FOR THE FIRST TIME 0

comics greatest team returns but with a differant man behind the cowl. And not just that two excellent people are behind the first issue which i think are becoming comicdom greatest team: grant morrison and frank quitely. morrison bring beautiful writing and quitely art that is equally beautifull. My favourite line is "Together again for the first time" excellent fightscenes. An excellent way to kickstart a new batman series...

    Good Comic Or Gimmick? 2

Originally posted on June 3, 2009.  Something that I haven't made obvious, I'm a big fan of Batman.  Now we have the "death" of Bruce Wayne.  Is this all a gimmick just to get readers riled up and to launch a new series?  We know (most likely) that Bruce will return someday.  What will this new 'era' bring us?  Is it possible that this will be the new status quo?  Remember, there was quite some time when Dick Grayson was Robin.  Eventually he abandoned that identity.  There's no way he'd go back...

    AMAZING! 0

Where im a tad pressed for time for lack of a better excuse I'll make this review as short as it can possibly be.It was a necessary and enlightening change of direction and take on the modern day stories of batman channeling them back to a less gritty mood, while still keeping that same horror in it's overall plot....

Batman Reborn A Fresh Start 0

From the events of Batman R.I.P and Final Crisis it has taken us in new directions. However now it is time for the new Batman(Dick Grayson) to take flight. On the first couple of pages, we can see Dick and Damian chasing down a couple of theives in their new bat mobile. While they are chasing them down, Damian says to Dick "I told you it would work... All I had to do was adapt my fathers blueprits." Dick says "I am sorry I ever doubted you." They eventually nutralize the theives and they find my...

    I liked it, didn't love it 1

This is a very simple and entertaining book, itwasn't awesome, nor does it reach any level of greatness. It is decently written, and quite oddly drawn.  At times Dick is drawn to much too look like Bruce Wayne. He would be a different build and movement style.  At least the attitude is different.  Illustrated by the appearance of a hovering Batmobile.  While I did think the writing is decent, I have to be honest, the story is not a real grabber.     Also, Damian is not so much as arrogant in ...

Dick Grayson = Great Batman! Who knew? 0

Following the events of Bruce Wayne's death in the DC Universe, Dick Grayson has taken up the mantle of Batman and has been given an all new series titled Batman and Robin, with Damian Wayne, Bruce Wayne's son, taking up the role as the Boy Wonder. The series is mainly written by Grant Morrison and this issue's artwork was done by Frank Quitely.Right off the bat, no pun intended, it jumps into action, with Batman and Robin using a new batmobile that can hover like the Delorean in Back to the Fut...

    Morrison and Quitely 0

Frank Quitely compliments Grant Morrison like Gene Ha compliments Alan Moore. I think if you can embrace the character of Damien, and the idea of a non Bruce Wayne Batman, and just have faith in these guys to create a damn good, 25 issue saga, then you'll love this series. So far my only complaint is the design of the Batmobile. But who cares? The rest of the art is awesome....
