Art: Can't really say much more about Greg Capullo's art that hasn't been already said. You really get the impression that he is putting his heart and soul into this title. He has a great blend and variety for his panel layouts. The pencils are very detailed but without ever being too muddled. The fight scenes are exhilarating and flow effortlessly. The second page in particular which shows a reflective Bruce Wayne, towering over his model of Gotham City in the mute darkness just oozes with clas...

    Batman # 8 Review 3

What a issue this was! Suspense was at all time high as Bruce pulls out all the stops to protect his house. As the cover shows Bruce is ambushed by a gang of talons. Luckily Bruce he knows his estate better than anyone. With a few tricks up his sleeve he alludes the talons and keeps them locked out. Then out comes bruce in a full battle suit. The battle suit is quite huge and Bruce seems quite mad. " Get the hell out of my house " I don't think I would say it any differently. Now for the bac...

    Beginning the Night 0

THE GOOD: I really love Greg Capullo's artwork on this series. He makes the art beautiful and scary. This is the first time in a comic where I ever had a scared feeling sorta looming on the page, and he is very much responsible for that. The story is where this issue strikes home. Bruce Wayne's house has fallen under attack by several Talons. Alfred and Bruce have to fight back just to survive. I love this issue because it showcases the manor so much. It also makes you really like Alfred. Bruce ...

    The Night is Young 0

The Night of Owls has begun and I can confidently say that DC's first major crossover since the relaunch, this is off to a phenomenal start. The story is great. After barely managing to survive his first encounter with the Court of Owls, Bruce is recovering at Wayne Manor when guess who shows up, that's right it's the Talons, trained assassins who work for the Court. One thing that has always amazed me about Batman and one of the reasons why I like the character so much is his ability to bounce ...

    Building Tension 0

The GoodThis issue manages to further amp up the tension as the Court assails Wayne Manor. There is a creeping sense of impending dread as the issue progresses but it is far from unpleasant. Without giving too much away in terms of details, let’s just say that what unfolds in this issue actually makes you question the safety of the two long-time friends.Early on in the issue we also get to see Wayne do some humbling self-introspection, which is refreshing. (This is also shown in Batman: The Dark...

The Night Is Still Young 0

Having barely survived the first attack against the Court of Owls, Bruce is recuperating and preparing to fight the greatest fight of his career. All of the Owl agents have been awoken and are now hunting down political officials in Gotham and are going to finish what they began a long time ago! It is up to Batman and friends to stop this threat, but who said it was going to be easy? Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo didn't assure Batman would come out of this the same, so lets see what Batman has p...

There's somebody in the house! 0

Batman #8, the opening chapter of "Night of the Owls" was AMAZING! It was scary as heck and reminded me of "The call is coming from inside the house!!!" Even though it was an all-Bruce-Wayne issue, it was great. Snyder and Capullo are the bomb. Please check my mini-review here:http://bit.ly/I9HAHdComments and feedback are always welcome!...

Comic Review -- Batman #8: Attack on Wayne Manor; The Call / Scot 0

Originally posted on my blog, The Comics Cove, not too long ago...This series has done a tremendous job with its covers and this one is no exception. Bruce, out of costume, alone, taking on a horde of the Court of Owls' Talons by himself. It's pulse-pounding, terrifying, and makes you desperate to know what's going on. Best of all: this scene is actually in the story! Love it!Bruce is back at home, contemplating how little he knows about Gotham, the city he's supposed to know better than anyone ...

    Amazing, Again 0

What can I say about this series that hasn't been said? It's fantastic. Scott Snyder has been doing an amazing job with this title, and I can't say enough about how much I love the Court of Owls concept.I'm not even going to bother doing the Pros/Cons thing, because I already know I can't think of anything wrong with this issue. The story is great, the art is great (fitting in a Gothic way), the dialogue is great...yeah, pretty much everything is fantastic. This particular issue is especially ex...

The Eyes Gazing From the Darkness, Into Your Soul 0

Batman has been chewed up and spit out by the Court, and he's left in a broken state, uncertain and ruminating over the city he's no longer certain he knows. Batman is the ruler of the night, but this night belongs to the owls. But Batman no longer knows how much in this world truly belongs to the owls, after refusing to believe their existence for so long, discovering how deeply embedded they are in the city still hidden from him, and being beaten in his first attack; he's now for, for the firs...
