Batman #710
Having stuck with the series for so very long, yes I am still reading, this is one of the Batman series that features Dick Grayson as the main "Batman" in the book. While his adventures in Detective Comics are more entertaining and action packed, I can see Tony Daniel is beginning to get better and better at being a writer. Usually writing and artwork is a big task to put on anyone, so Tony is taking a break for now and will probably return as artist (again) after this arcs closure. His contributions to cover each issue is terrific, I like how he uses very dark and heavy inks in his covers and it really makes it stand out from others. While Two-Face is one of my favorite Dick Grayson-Batman villains, I do think this series could continue without the re-appearance of Catgirl, Catwoman, and Mario Falcone. All my least favorite characters of the book. While the cliffhanger at the end makes readers want more, others might want to jump off at this point. How many times have we seen people get shot and seemingly bleed out to death? I mean this has been in so many issues of the Batman title. This is a tad bit cliche.
Artwork by Steve Scott is pretty good. It looks cool and slick to some of the other artwork I have seen in the book. With only a few artist actually working on this title, and many others on separate books, I think Dick Grayson's adventures in Batman only give a breather to readers who want more of Dick Grayson as Batman or give them something else to read. I haven't decided if it is either or both.
If you're avid about this title pick it up. You don't really need to know what is going on, it is pretty simple once you just jump in. Other readers might want to get off and check out Detective Comics, much better action and story. Overall this is a 3.5 out of 5.
