Hear no evil
Pros:
In some ways, this felt like a Nightwing issue more than a Batman one. Yes, it's because of Dick Grayson, but what trying to write is that Tony Daniel brings out Dick's personality more when he's Batman instead of the Bruce Wayne persona of the Dark Knight. It also shows in the way he is out side the Batman suit. Now that Bruce is back, the responsibility of protecting Gotham City falls under Dick and Damian. It already had, but hearing it from Bruce now, makes it official since he's busy with Batman Inc.
But besides that, I like how this story is going. There's something more at work when the Tang Lo Foundation wants to buy off Crime Alley from Bruce Wayne (For Red Robin fans, you may remember that Tim just recently bought this for his base of operations). Sasha and her half brother seems to be in trouble with some weird Chinese group, and when their problems enter Gotham City, Dick is going to get involved.
Tony is also doing a wonderful job with the artwork. I love the detail he put in his work with the costumes. And yes, even he gets to draw Bruce Wayne's new suit.
Cons:
My problem with Tony Daniel sometimes is the directions of the story writing Making twist and suspense is one thing, but then there's adding unnecessary plots. The Catgirl and Reaper at the beginning for example. I'm not fan of Catgirl either, but the beginning was awkward with those two in it.
While I do like Daniel's artwork, there isn't that much of a change between Dick and Bruce look when they're in costume facial wise. Minor complaint.
Overall: This is a nice start. I'm glad that Tony is handling both the story and the art. Can't wait for the next issue.
