    Batman #703: The Great Escape

"How Could You Have Let Him Go?" - Dick Grayson (as Robin). Celebrating "The Return of Bruce Wayne" (which is right-around-the-corner) Batman issue 703 is the prelude, that will get everyone (the people who read this issue) into the action. If you haven't been reading Return Of Bruce Wayne by Grant Morrison, then you can just start here if you've not been reading that series or Batman and Robin. Writer Fabian Nicieza and artist Cliff Richards, take readers into the prelude of "The Road Home".

    The Good

I enjoyed the story about Gateway Genius and his legacy! Fabian Nicieza incorporated a past and also present story in this prelude issue. Showing a flashback of (young) Dick Grayson as Robin, yelling at Bruce Wayne (asking him) "why did you let Gateway Genius escape"? This is the first time I've heard of Gateway Genius, and from the looks of this story, he must've not been a "major" Batman villain, in Batman's early days. So with Damian asking the same question that Dick asked, many years ago, it got him thinking about Gateway Genius (the first one). I like how, Dick and Tim talk to each other in this comic. From the early issues of Red Robin, Tim was alone trying to prove that Bruce was still alive. Now, Tim isn't alone, and trying to find Bruce Wayne. So Fabian's dialogue for the two characters was interesting.

    The Bad

I had high hopes for this issue. When I read the preview on DC The Source, I was impressed with Cliff Richards artwork for the few pages I saw. However, when reading this comic and looking at the artwork, it was a let down. Some scenes (e.g) Damian, he was drawn almost looking like Cassandra. And at other interior art, was drawn with no eye pupils. So that was a let down in the artwork.

    The Verdict

In the end, Vicki Vale is trying to get proof on members of the Bat-family's identity, and is doing a good job at it. While I'm not glad that she is becoming "one" of the villains of Bat-family, I do like how the (many) writers are now incorporating here into the series. With the cliff hanger at the end, it doesn't look good at all, even when Bruce returns! Overall this is a 3 out of 5.

Gateway me a giant Taco.  The prelude is unleashed, and begins the journey back for Bruce Wayne. With Bruce Wayne (not) here yet, Return of Bruce Wayne by Grant Morrison, has only two issues left. With the missing pages of R.I.P. and Final Crisis (also by Grant Morrison), he is currently focusing on Road Home, Return Of Bruce Wayne, and Batman INC. Dick Grayson, Tim Drake, Damian Wayne, Alfred Pennyworth all star in this amazing issue of the prelude that will start everything! Written by Fab...

      Remembering Batman 0

The Good: Character development for Damien. He was at an all time high in bratty spunkiness, and he had it all come crashing down on his head. It was pretty heartwarming. Vicky Vale is as tenacious as a fucking crocodile. THe fact that she managed to turn the tables back on the Bat Family when they turned the tables on her was a brilliant ending. The identity of the Getaway Genius. The backstory of the original Getaway Genius was really nice. Damien made some wild crazy assumptions in the beginn...
