They Have Him Trapped and Outnumbered - Too Bad for Them

Frank Miller's awesome 'Batman: Year One' continues in 'Black Dawn'. Batman is trapped in an abandoned building. When Branden's SWAT team closes in he's forced to fight his way to freedom. Meanwhile Detective Gordon feels his life falling apart as he and Barbara continue to argue and he embarks on an affair with his partner. And, Selina Kyle is inspired to don a catsuit and pursue a new line of work.

One of the great things about this story arc beyond the fact that it tells the origin of Batman, is that the characters all feel so real. Bruce Wayne knows his limitations, James Gordon hates that he's attracted to a co-worker, but still cannot deny his feelings, Selina is determined to live life on her own terms.

Needless to say, Batman: Year One is a timeless masterpiece that almost defies criticism. All comic fans should read it.

Then the issue ends with G...
