    Batman #3 Review 1

After an action packed issue #2, Batman #3 slows things down a bit. This issue really begins to dig into just how unfamiliar Gotham City really is to Bruce Wayne, and that will really be his undoing. Batman is overly confident, this is his city, but what happens when he realizes that he's been wrong about that all this time?Scott Snyder hasn't missed a beat since issue one, and the story just keep getting bigger and more complex. The dialogue is spot on and everyone feels like they are perfectly...

    A Forshadowing Flashback 1

Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo have been giving a really good Batman story for the past two issues. Does this creative team keep up the pace while adding onto this complex story?  THE GOOD: I like the art. It gives Gotham and Batman a feeling that they should have. It feels different from other books by DC and that is something that should be present in a Batman book. The story is also another really great aspect of this book so far. In this issue we have Batman investigating how the assassin got...

    Snyder Delivers Again 0

I know good things don't last; I'm not pessimistic, I just know that all good things must come to an end. So, I keep waiting for the new Batman series to fall into mediocrity. I thought the third issue might be the breaking point. Man, was I wrong.I have to say, this issue might be the best yet. Scott Snyder is amazing. He is producing some really groundbreaking stuff. I think it was G-Man who wrote an article on how he felt the "Gates of Gotham" storyline would have a lot of carryover into the ...

    The owl sees you! 0

Art - The art of this book is excellent. It tells the story without having to use words to convey few points and though I don't like the massive chin on Bruce, it's done well enough to not be a bother.Story - I love this story because it adds to the mythology of Gotham and the Wayne legacy. The story raises questions and shows us Bruce's way of getting to the conclusion he comes to. There are however a few problems I have with the story in general. It seems odd that Bruce wouldn't take advantage ...

The book I most look forward to every month 0

This is definitely a Snyder #3 issue. Just like Swamp Thing #3 it is very wordy, but there's a lot to get out there about this Owl Society Court of Owls. And Snyder manages to pull it off in such a way as to keep it from seeming that he's holding your hand too much. In fact, this story almost feels like it should be in Detective Comics with all the detective work going on. But it has my favorite Batman story device - he has all these different conversations with people where hints are getting dr...

A Look In The Owls Nest 0

The Story: Batman begins investigating the Court Of Owls more throughly and finds ties to his ancestors. My Thoughts:This was easily my most anticipated issue not only this week, but this entire month. I was so thrilled at the outcome of the first two issues of this series I just couldn't wait to read more. Scott Snyder doesn't disappoint at all. In my opinion, Scott Snyder was exactly what Batman needed.  We see Snyder delve deeper into not only Gotham's past, but Alan Wayne's as well. Snyder e...

    The Perfect Batman 0

The Good: Capullo's artwork is fantastic. He does a superb work with shadows, and does a great job with his panel layouts, taking the proper moments to emphasize little ey things. People's eyes, and the difference between what they look at and what they see is very subtly emphasized. And there's such richness in all the detail, it never seems overdone, and makes everything very haunting and tense. And the cover? It's absolutely stunning. Batman and The Talon are both purely dark figures set agai...

Beware The Court of Owls 0

The past holiday kept me really busy, so I wasn't able to get to my comics from last week until today. That being said, I don't know if I can read anything else. This new issue of Batman is so good that it's going to be hard to find anything to compare it to from the past week of comics. As the story continues with Bruce Wayne investigating the attempt on his life and the strange rumors about The Court of Owls in Gotham City, clues about the architecture Alan Wayne built back in the 1920's revea...

"About The Owl Nests. They're In Our Homes." 0

Synopsis  The mystery deepens, as Waynes both past and present are intertwinned by the actions of the Court of Owls!  The Good   What I love about Snyder's writing is not necessarily how he crafts the here-and-now of what is happening, but how is also (like many great writers) weaves in particular themes and concepts throughout the overarching story to add that much more depth to it all. What this issue is really starting to do is integrate the past and the present together, through Batman now a...

    Under Our Feet 0

In this issue the plot of the court of owls gets even more interesting as Batman searches out information on Talon only to find almost more than he bargained for.  The only thing I have never liked about Scott Snyder’s work is that I feel like he is too wordy for a comic. When I’m reading a comic I don’t want to read whole paragraphs in every caption or voice bubble, but still Scott has a knack for telling a story. This Court of Owls plot is only getting better and better as it goes, and this pa...

    The Thirteenth Hour 0

Way to go, Snyder, way to go!The beginning of the issue was getting us back in time, to the 1922, with a crazy-old-man running over the streets of Gotham, this was Alan Wayne, and was talking about some Owls conspiracy against him, suddenly two cops stop him and try to calm him down, in a litle but brutal distraction of the cops Alan falls on the sewers, his body was not found until the next couple of days. Now we're on the present, and we could see Batman is fighting some bad guys, a gang that c...

Bullet Points Review: OWLS ARE NATURAL PREDATORS OF BATS!!! 0

This series I think is one of the best of New 52. With Scott Snyder's story getting better with every issue.Batman is on the hunt and hunts down different smuggling gangs of Gotham to know who the mystery "owl" man is and why did he try to kill him two days ago. When Bruce asks, Alfred says "Owls are Natural predators of Bats.."..that is a heavy statement.. from that point on, butterflies in my stomach!!!....Batman goes ahead with the investigation and discovers more about "Court of Owls" .. and ...

Everything is not as it seems 0

Batman operates in Gotham City, that fact being, you'd think he know about every little detail about HIS city. If you made that statement; you would be wrong. As Batman is finding out more-and-more about the Court of Owls, he is realizing that he is facing a group of rogues that have operated centuries before his time. The Court has always been growing stronger with the introduction of modernized technology, with Batman being out of the circle and not actually having hard facts about the Court, ...

Comic Review -- Batman #3: The Thirteenth Hour / Scott Snyder, Gr 0

Originally posted to my blog, The Comics Cove, not too long ago...Batman #3I'm not too impressed by the blank white background of this cover, but the blacks and reds lend an appropriately stark sense of urgency to Batman's bloody struggle with the Talon in this illustration. If only there'd been more to the background...The hunt for the Court of Owls is on in this issue, as we see Batman interrogating the local gangs for information about the Talon, talking to Alfred about his great-grandfather ...

Everything Starts To Come Together... 0

This series is EPIC! I love it. It's filled with everything you need for a successful Batman comic! First of all Batman's a badass as usual, there are new deadlier and actually interesting villains, and it has a suburb great plot! The plot makes you dying to read the next installment of the series! But anyways after having not having written a review written in over around 4 months (very very sorry about that) here is my review for Batman #3! The Plot: The issue begins in Gotham in 1992, in the ...

    They're in our Homes!!! 0

As Batman continues to investigate The Court of Owls he discovers they are in his city. I liked how we see Bruce's great-greatfather Alan Wayne in the begining and I liked how it goes into the past and then into the present in the story. I liked how Alfred helped Bruce with the Owls and said he needed sunshine like bats. The mystery with the Court of Owls is so good and I like how Batman is so determined to get them and stop them. I liked how Batman's technology is so cool like how he could tell...

    Fun with Magnets :D 0

After issues one and two Snyder has set the Batman up for a great story arc with a new villain know as the Talon and an entire underground conspiracy that looks to go back to the beginnings of Gotham! The Good:It looks like Batman is starting to solve the mystery of the Court of Owls. This has a detective vibe to it that is missing in the Detective Comics series.I enjoyed the flash back with Alan Wayne.I was totally taken by surprise by the court of owls conspiring under the Wayne's noses for gen...

    The Script flips 0

Batman is on the prowl looking for the so-called Talons from the Court of Owls nursery rhyme. The Good: Greg Capullo's art is so fantastic. His faces, his Batman is so unique and eye opening. The Bad: cliff hanger ending.Verdict: Greg Capullo and Scott Snyder great another solid Batman issue, which further leads into their exploration of Gotham's history, Batman, and the so called Court of Owls....

Every issue of Batman should be this good. 0

Now this is more like it! Batman finally hits its stride with issue #3. It has the grittiness - beginning with Batman fighting a street gang in a subway tunnel. There are still gadgets, but they are somewhat more believable - a small coin sized device that turns metal things into powerful electromagnets, and a voice lie detector. The art is decent and flows along with the story.Overall a great issue. Batman uncovers a mystery about Gotham he never knew - I thought that alone would be difficult g...
