    Boring beginning, good ending 6

In yet another Batman book, Bruce Wayne does things. In fact, his life is in mortal danger, because the Court of Owls is after him. Said Court is a group of black-clad, cape-wearing, masked people who kill people. This does not please The Batman. The GoodThe Court of Owls: They're a really intriguing group. Or maybe just one guy. Either way, I'm interested to see where this story is going... after finishing it.Gadgetry: Batman is using high tech gadgets. Him being the tech-hero of the DCU, he sho...

Who are you? I'm Batman! 0

Another stunning Batman issue showing not only a grasp of the character and the history of the characters (Gotham included) but also the ability to add to that mythology and have it work for several reasons that if I said would spoil the issue a bit. Let's just say an alternate dimension makes a bit more sense now.If you have to drop all but one Batman book, this is the title to keep....

    It Just Got Better 0

If you read the first issue, you can only but be on the edge of your seat. With issue two Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo took the intensity and story material to a whole new level. If you enjoyed the first issue as much as me, then you'll love the second even more. The GoodThis is one of the greatest titles of New 52. It has the proper amount of story material, while also giving great and incorporated artwork. Most New 52 titles that are being published currently need to be more like Batman. It is...

How does Snyder Do It? 3

Snyder's batting 1.000 for Batman. We begin this issue in media res and then rewind to the previous day. Although it can be overdone I've always liked these kinds of stories. I guess it goes along with that research that came out recently saying we enjoy stuff more if we know the ending. As he did last month, Snyder keeps the noir in Batman that he brought over from Detective Comics. We have some shady cabal in Gotham that wants Wayne dead for some reason. Bruce thinks it's all horse crap for now...

Court Of Owls Are Coming 0

The Story: Batman and James Gordon continue to investigate the murder of a man who had Dick Grayson's DNA underneath his fingernails. Batman is warned about the Court Of Owls. My Thoughts:This was easily my most anticipated issue coming out this week. After the phenomenal first issue by Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo, this instantly became one of my favorites out of the new 52. We're only two issue in and it already appears that Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo will pull off an incredible groundbrea...

    The 13th Guardian 0

In a week where it shows Batman largely dominating in both the mediums of comics and entertainment, Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo essentially delivered a Batman issue that amazes without putting in effort. After an amazing finish to issue #1, how can issue #2 raise the bar?  Find your favorite gargoyle, and join me as I review Batman #2. The GoodBoy, oh boy, where can I begin? Capullo, Glapion, and Plascencia continue their amazing craft on the visuals. The action scenes that depict Batman takin...

The Eternal War of Gotham City's Legends 1

The Good: Normally I'm not a fan of covers like this, but there's just something about it that makes it work. Maybe it's the little white dots around Batman's cape and the background? I don't know. It works. Scott Snyder REALLY knows how to get deep. He can blather on with extraneous details and it never feels boring. He's setting the scene. Gotham City is as much a character as Batman is. History sets the mood. Things are slightly tense and uncertain. And then BLAM! Someone gets thrown through ...

    The Definition of AWESOME!! 0

Batman is always going to be one of the most popular and dynamic characters in comic books and Scott Synder is quickly proving why Batman deserves that title. Of the four Batman titles that came out with the relaunch, this one definitely stands out as the best. Batman is facing a dark enemy he knows little about and this group is proving to be very deadly and very dangerous. Apart from that, the thing I absolutely LOVE about Synder writing Batman is how he uses Gotham City. Synder is using the c...

    Doesn't Get Any Better! 0

Bruce Wayne has been targeted by a group claiming to be the legendary Gotham society known as The Court of Owls. Wayne doesn't believe in the group and thinks that he knows the city better than anyone. But when an assassin comes calling who is just as skilled and powerful as he is, he might have to start rethinking how sure he really is about the old legend.Written by Scott Snyder and drawn by Greg Capullo, Batman #2 is one of the best comics I've read in a while. This is exactly what I love abo...

    Tour of Batman #2 0

Last issue Scott Snyder delivered a well crafted story. Does he continue to keep Batman a action pack story?   THE GOOD: I really like the art. It's very detailed but yet simple enough you don't feel that you need to stare at a panel for an hour. The story is also really good. I like how we open the book. It really make you see that Gotham has been spewing out evil for hundreds of years. I also really like how Batman has a whole bunch of high-tech gadgets and it also makes he be able to be every...

    "All Right, Playtime's Over" 0

Synopsis  As Batman investigates into the grisly murder last issue, Bruce Wayne is destined to soon die. Enter the deadly assassin Talon!  The Good   Snyder does it again! What I believe makes this series is the way Gotham City shapes what happens to Batman. We, this issue get a good description of the Old Wayne Tower, it despite the detail doesn't get tedious at all. Quite the opposite in fact, how the structures around the Caped Crusader have a hand in current events. Read the issue and you'll...

Bullet Points Review: Intro of a badass villain! 0

The art is so awesome that it will for sure keep you hooked. The investigation about the killing from the last issue continues. More clues about the "owl" symbol found.Once again, Batman's techy gadgets had me bowled over - Photogrammetric scanner in he city morgue - he can have the scanning done right at Batcave and have the results out in seconds! Awesome!!The air about Dick Grayson's involvement - cleared.Lincon March, the one who is contesting for the next mayor of Gotham pays a visit to Bruc...

    The Anit-Bat 0

Last issue (#1 review)Batman appears to have developed an entirely new enemy, and he has a mystery to solve...Good:For a bit there I actually thought Bruce was gunna bite the bullet, so great job on the writing! The new villain! He strikes me as an anti-Batman. Joker is yin to the Dark Knight's yang and will probably be his biggest threat, but he's not an evil doppelganger. Flash has Prof. Zoom, Superman has Bizarro, Spider-man had Venom even Darkwing Duck had Negaduck- but I don't really feel b...

Comic Review -- Batman #2: Trust Fall / Scott Snyder, Greg Capull 0

Originally posted to my blog, The Comics Cove, not too long ago...Batman #2Another cover that actually gives you an idea of some of what's going on in the cover. The action here is exhilarating, and for good reason. Batman is playing chicken on a train track with a helicopter. I am amused. We get a very in-depth look at Bruce Wayne's relationship to Gotham from his viewpoint, and his many reasons for seeing the city as his. From his family's building of the city and Old Wayne Tower in the past, t...

Batman #2 escapes the Court of Owls death sentence 0

Batman #2. With all that the first one did, this has a lot to live up to, doesn't it?Story/ArtWe get a lot of things happening in the story this time around. On the first page we have a nice little history lesson, and we get a nicely illustrated action scene right on the next page. Although I'm not the biggest fan of Greg Capullo's art, he does a good job here. Fco has some beautiful coloring around here too. Next we see a continued autopsy of the man who died in the last issue. Batman has a dis...

    They Don't Exist!!!! 0

As Batman continues to invesigate the John Doe he helps a friend, but also faces a new opponent too. I like how Batman has upgraded his tech because he is smart and has to be one step head of everything. The story is getting more interesting and I loved how Batman beat up the crooks in the beginning of the story and how he fought Talon. Overall, I giving it a 5/5 because the story is getting more interesting, the art is spectacular, and Batman is still the coolest and badass superhero today. The...

    Ego 0

I went back and reread all the Batman issues before I read #12 which comes out this Wednesday. The Good: Pure adrenaline action, Bruce Wayne is thrown out a window, Batman chasing trains with his motorcycle. Scott Snyder definitely wanted to show that Bruce thinks he's on top of his game, and no one can match him. I don't think anyone can match Greg Capullo's artwork on here. He draws eyes like no one else. The Bad: Dick looked goofy in some of the drawings.Verdict: Looking back in retrospect, you...

Better, but still needs work... 0

As usual, I'm going to tell the truth, and as usual, the fanboys are all going to mark this review 'unhelpful' without reading it, just because I dare not to give it 5 stars, and not because my points have no validity; but I can't help but state my feelings about this issue. I love Batman, always have, this is not some passing fad for me like it is for half the world right now.The fact is, this version of Batman isn't really that great - it lacks grittiness, relies entirely too much on gadgetry,...
